Well, Holloween is around the corner, then thrnksgiving and christmas. Do you dress up your site for each of these holidays? As most of you know, my site is cow themed and horse themed, and these holidays don't really lend themselves to cows or horses. People usually don't eat cows during thanksgiving. I don't know people who eat horse anytime (but I know there are people who do eat horse. Playing up the cow or horse elements of xmas doesn't seem easy either.
So, who does these themes and why? Does it increase sales?

I do themes but my reasoning is different. I feel that a site that does something - even something simple - shows that the site IS fresh and monitored not just something that was thrown up 5 years ago and not touched since.
I change banners and change the default smilies on my message board.
I've got all mine up at: http://www.parentsworld.com/banners.html

I do themes at my site too. Usually it is just a small change of the logo - like Parentsworld.
Why not find a picture of a horse or cow with a wreath around the neck? Or in the snow?

On my first c*ntent site I find some little seasonal graphic for the front page, but that's it.
Sometimes I forget to change things back, and Christmas in April on a sales site would be a bit anticonversionary!
It's not that the sites would be untouched until then, but the graphics on the front page aren't something that gets changed often, so whatever I put on that part of the page may end up staying for a very long time.
It is a beautiful thing, to do nothing, and then rest afterwards.~Spanish Proverb
