My 500th post - making it count!

While 500 is a small number of posts to many folks here, for me it represents a lot.. a commitment to both this forum & the affiliate marketing "business" I fell into a little more than 2 years ago.
I wanted to make my 500th post count.. so here goes... in no particular order, I hope this helps at least one new member!
1. Affiliate marketing is "the hardest easy money you will ever make"
2. PPC: make sure you know what you're doing. It's VERY easy to spend a lot of money, with little or no return
3. Niche: if you don't love it, don't build your site on it.. you'll get bored & quit.
4. Content is king (to search engines), but high traffic doesn't necessarily mean high conversion
5. Conversion: the lifeblood to every affiliate site. It may take a while, but figure out how to better convert your traffic. Sometimes it's as simple as improving the wording of text links.
6. Scrapers/parasites/bad guys: report them to networks & google, they will actually do something about them!
7. Your friends, while intrigued by what you do, won't really understand - members here, however, understand more than you realize!
8. Every day can bring something new - if it doesn't, that means you're probably not learning as much as you should
9. Manage your expectations! Don't expect something for nothing..
10. All of the above is based on personal experience..
I joined this forum in 2006 & became active in the past 12 months, when my sites started to generate income. I still have lots of questions myself, but like participating as I finally believe I can give something back!
It took a while to figure out my own AM strategy and it's been a long stretch that includes hundreds & hundreds of unpaid & thankless hours. But I don't regret a minute of it. Mine is not some fabulous success story (yet!), but I take great pride in revenue earned, and also the fact that readers & merchants think there's a bigger team behind my sites. I love that illusion
On a personal note, my nickname has nothing to do with golf. My sites are not sports-related, they're very girlie-shopping related (due to the fact that I am a girl who loves to shop!).
A big thanks to everyone here who has helped me along the way, both directly and indirectly through previous posts!
Here's to the next 500...
PS. I'm now a "Super Member" by reaching 500, awesome!

Helping and giving back is what it's all about - You've just helped many many newbies with that steep learning curve and saved them much wasted time.

Congratulations teezone. While 500 posts is a great milestone, the real significance is in the quality of those posts and the contribution to the community that you've made. Keep it up. I'll see you at 5,000.

When someone makes a milestone post, I always take a look at their other posts they have contributed to the community. It gives me a quick reminder of who they are, what they stand for, and why they are here. I enjoyed browsing yours this AM and look forward to the next 500.
