Question No affiliate links on wordpress?
the Content is not spam, is not machine- or randomly-generated, and does not contain unethical or unwanted commercial content designed to drive traffic to third party sites or boost the search engine rankings of third party sites, or to further unlawful acts (such as phishing) or mislead recipients as to the source of the material (such as spoofing); ----wordpress. This was on wordpress's terms of use. Does it mean that you are not allowed to have affiliate links on a wordpress hosted blog?

You are correct. You need to have wordpress on your own hosting to use it for affiliate marketing.

Yup, if you create one of their free blogs at wordpress.com you can't do affiliate links.

But the vast majority of people using WordPress that I know of are downloading the software from wordpress.org and installing it on their own websites. And those of us who use it have used it for everything from a "straight blog" to a combination "blog/CMS" to a pure "CMS" package. It's one of the most useful pieces of free software you'll find.

You do not have to buy anything. Wordpress is a free download. And, if you have the "right" host, one that offers WHM/CPanel, you can install the FREE Wordpress softwear with (basically) one or two "clicks."

Easy - effective - free. What more could you want?

I continue to marvel that so many people who want to do affiliate marketing with WP are still not "getting it" that WP software is freely available to download, install on a website, modify freely, and make where.

BUT -- wordpress.com blogs are an entirely different situation. That is a host offering "free" blogs built with WP software with clear rules against affiliate marketing.

Doing affiliate marketing certainly doesn't mean you must know a lot of HTML, PHP, ASP, or any other coding.

But you really need to understand the difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org with it's free and freely modifiable software if you choose to do affiliate marketing with a WP blog setup in mind.

Sorry. Didn't mean to rant there. LOL!

    Host provided WordPress
    Bill is right with CPanel....

Plesk does it too if the host has it set up.

Virtualmin hosting is most likely (IMHO) the best at this.

And other Wordpress type CMS's are out there too.. Like WebsiteBaker and others. All free to download and install with no fuss or muss with plenty of quality hosts that provide it for you via their control panels.

Yes, definitely a downfall, but it's better to have a non- .wordpress site anyways.
