    Apache question
I hope you guys can lead me in the right direction for this. Forgive my lack of knowledge about Apache. My forte is Tomcat and IIS.

What file governs the ability to to use part of the URL in your script in the Apache setup. In other words I'm working on a script that is called from

    www.myserver.com/project/view/256/

The index.php file that is called is actually in www.myserver.com/project/view and it uses the 256 as a variable to retrieve the appropriate records from the database. I'm trying find out what config file governs this action and how it works. Thanks for your help.

It's probably done using URL rewriting rules in the .htaccess file.
http://corz.org/serv/tricks/htaccess2.php seems like a good tutorial on the topic.
