Philly vs. Tampa Bay World Series
I'm suprised there wasn't a baseball/playoffs/world series thread. This is the only time I watch baseball. Yeah I know it still might be Boston, if they can win 3 in a row.

we kinda got side tracked in another thread on how nervous all the Phil's fans were with me talking about the curse and all....

All that won't matter when the Rays walk into town and smack Rocky around a bit.... worst to first!!! I can taste it....

As soon as I realized that it wouldn't be Chicago vs. Chicago in the series, the playoffs kind of lost their luster.

I'll repeat as I (sadly) do every season "Chicago, home of more dog teams then the Yukon".

There are been a lot of comments here and here, but there should have been a separate thread.

My team (the Mets) aren't in it -- again. But it's the World Series and it's the last baseball of the season so I will be watching.

I'm grateful both teams are on the east coast so I won't have to stay up past my bedtime to watch the games.

I'm just pumped the the Phillies are in the series. This will be the 4th time I have seen them in the World Series. I want to add to that Tampa seem to kick Philadelphia's but in big games too.

The Lightning took he Cup from the Flyers a few years back.
The Bucs also killed the Eagles a few times.

I think this time is the charm...
    Thanks,
    Doug

I like the Phils, they've been one of my favorite teams to play with in "The Show" baseball video game for Xbox this year, but I've gotta root for the Rays in this one if they make it, what a great story.

Don't count out my BoSox just yet! Beckett and Lester on the hill. We still have a shot at winning this thing. Just ask last years Cleveland Indians.

enjoy game 6, and hopefully, game 7 sunday night!!!

Just making this thread has guaranteed Boston will come back, I don't care who wins, but it's this jinx thing I have going.

    Beckett will get hammered...again. I don't think he's healthy.

Alright, congratulations to the Tampa Bay Rays. They really impressed me with their 3-1 win over the BoSox in game 7 last night. I can't see any way they lose the World Series. Personally, I think they are a great story, and I will be rooting for them to win. It should be a solid series.

Enjoy late October baseball Phillie and Ray fans. You are all in for a treat!

    Deja vu all over again:

RedSox-Rockies 2007 >>> Phillies-Rays 2008 (I think the Rays will be a formidable opponent, and will not have shot it all getting there like the Rockies did last year.)

Frankie Rogriguez 2002 >>> David Price 2008 (Young pitcher with only handful of big league innings in Sep. behind him becomes bullpen star in playoffs.)

    Rays in 6.

Hold up, are other people seeing this on Fox? I'm getting O'Reilly, no baseball. I can see it live on mlb.com looks like they're warming up.

KTTV Fox 11 in LA has the game. Bill the Clown is on Fixed News (24 on Charter Cable)

<rant>MLB has to take a hard look at scheduling World Series games so late in October. Most series include at least one team in a northern state and while the weather is usually pretty good (cool but dry) in the first half of October by late October (in the northeast anyway) the weather has turned to cold and wet.</rant>

Anyway, here's an interesting article that explains the rules and how they were applied to last night's game and its continuation.
