Thumbs up CPA Empire rebrands itself as Affiliate.com
Did you guys notice that CPA EMPIRE recently did a re-branding and became AFFILIATE.COM?

    Why did they do this?

To someone who follows re-brandings and who has been involved in a few, it looks like a smart move.

It was probably done for many reasons, including search engine optimization, and the marketing dilemma where "CPA Anything" connotes an accounting firm. "Empire" also sounds a bit haughty or amateurish. So, it does seem like a step up.

However, if they would have asked me, I would have suggested they also look at acquiring the domain AFFILIATEPROGRAM.COM, which to fully disclose, is owned by my company. Why? Last I looked, and surprisingly, the keyword phrase "affiliate program" gets approximately 5X as many searches as the shorter keyword "affiliate." If you are optimizing in the search engines for a keyword phrase, why not get the one that has the highest traffic for your industry?

Anyway, it looks like a sensible re-branding. I guess their decision still leaves another potential re-branding opportunity for another company.

Your right about more keywords with AP.com but that's not why they chose the single word, and the single word is 100000000 times more powerful for what they have planned.

Why would it benefit them to re-brand so quietly and not make a big announcement? Or did they only tell their current partners?

    Seems odd to me.
