For about 1 week now I am noticing that I am now blocking my own site for SPAM. Yup someone is now sending my email address out for a return or reply address.

Does anyone know how to address this?
    Who do I sue?
    Who do I complain to?

It’s my server so I will not get kicked off, but it is my site domain that is being affected.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

Sandra you need to actually see where the emails are coming from, open the header of the email and you will see all the information there. I get emails from my own email address but when I check the header I see the emails are cloaked/spooked and originate from another email address. That Klez worm spooked email addresses, see this link below,

    JJJay,

I can not tell by the header, probably since I can not read a header.

Is that how I find the FART?

Now how do I track it back and Jail or Sue the Jerk?

This happens a lot and there isn't anything you can do and there isn't a way to track who actually sent it out (that I know of anyway.) Spiders pick up email addresses from your website and then they send out emails using those addresses.

That's why a lot of the spam that you get has an actual person's name on it or has a legit address on it these days as opposed to the freemail spam accounts.

I talked to my server company about it because I get hit with it every so often and they basically said sorry there is nothing that can be done.

Hmmmm.. I think it's saying it's from a Road Runner customer in Columbus, who appears to be using a personal router (which is 192.168.1.100). IP address is being allocated by DHCP, so it is basically random.

abuse@rr.com is the contact you'll need for that, I think.

Unless I've read the headers wrong.. it's difficult with partial headers.

do you run your own server? requiring secure authentication via your mail server will stop some of these types of activities.
