More power to you East coasters. I don't think I could handle living in snowy conditions.

Enjoy it while it's new before it gets old and depressing

Rhea, that area looks too depressing at 05:40 PM.

I took the same picture at 05:40 AM today, and it's beginning to look like Christmas.

    Rhea,

It's beautiful! I can't wait for Maryland's first snow. Ava will be two next month, so this will be the first year she will be able to play in it. How time flies!

    Snow?? Bah. Humbug.

I spent 6 winters in South Dakota, and that was plenty enough snow to last me for a life time.

Unfortunately, the snow here in southwest Missouri is particularly nasty because it almost always is preceded by sleet and ice. Nothing worse than snow on top of freezing rain, sleet, and ice. Agh!

Well okay, that's one envy I have of those that live in snowy climates - I'll never have a snow day in Cali!

If you have the opportunity, there is no more breathtaking scenery than Yosemite in December - not that far from San Leandro.

Well I thought I was being smart by moving 500 miles north to get away from the rain of Vancouver, I don't mind the cold but forecasting snow for Halloween does not make me a very happy camper... I don't need to walk in it all nite with the few kids I'm taking trick or treating... Yep, I think I will be putting a shot of Baileys in my coffee mug to warm me up as I'm walking..

You know, I've actually never been to Yosemite, and I've lived in California my entire life.

Heck, I only just finally went to Alcatraz last March for the first time.

    Hope you get out soon.

I've lived in CA my entire life also, but I'm sure I am considerably older than you, and there isn't a whole lot of CA from Sacramento to the Mexican border than I haven't seen, including Alcatraz, twice. Thank goodness for those pardons.

Never heard of schneetag. Looked it up. I guess that's an east coast (and German) term that never made it past the Mississippi. You never know when the schneetags will hit here, but we look forward to them every year.

We never made it to Alcatraz. The boats were always full or reserved.

Yeah we had to book like a month in advance, and went in the total off season (March) but it was worth it.
