Question Does such a thing exist?
    Hello, all,

I currently have a website that has existed for over a year. I've never been keen on the domain name, but it's a pretty successful site for me. I recently thought up a better name for it, and would love to be able to change the entire site over to the new domain name. We'll just say I'm changing it from blablahblah.com to yadayadayada.com. Even though I WANT to switch it over, I am NOT looking forward to changing the links on the 100s of pages (and undoubtedly missing several in the tedious process).

SO is there an application somewhere that will automatically change all "blahblahblah.com/page" to "yadayadayada.com/page" links with minimal time/work?

    Dreamweaver can do it.

It can do a global text replace on all the files in a folder.

But it's too expensive to buy just for that purpose if you don't have it.

In my opinion if it ain't broke don't fix it. If it is doing well why not keep it and build another with yayayaya.com.

Arachnophilia can do it (free download) or Notepad++ can do it (free download). If you decide to do this you will be starting over from square one basically and you shouldn't have identical content on two sites so the successful one would need to disappear and the new one would not pick up any speed for a few months anyway. Best to build a new yayayaya.com and leave the successful site successful.

why not see if your host has the 301 redirect built in? then you can get a new domain name and keep the old one but redirect from the new to the old?

(I think that's how it works)

Agree 100%! Messing with a successful site is asking for trouble and major disappointment.

Start a new site with new and different content and cross link posts that relate.

If you really want to move it, the 301 redirect is the way to go.

If you say you are successful with it, maybe the name is better than you thought. You may redirect bookmarks, websites, but maybe the name is stuck in people's head. I would also not change the name and just redirect 301 in your .htaccess file. Like what Herb and Loxly said

if the site is successful already, don't fix it. It may cause more confusion. visitors usually care more about the content than an address. They will visit any address for good content. Furthermore, search engines may treat a new domain differently.

I'll second, third...or even fourth that, do it via the .htaccess file, it's also easier to change back (delete one line in the file ) if the new name change doesn't work out

    Cheers
