"Without Google's help, Yahoo now may feel more pressure to renew talks with Microsoft"

I agree that keeping google / yahoo / msn separate and competitive is a good thing for us. G has too much power over the industry as it is, and this deal with yahoo would have only increased it further. I'd really like to see yahoo become a stronger player again and give G a run for their money. Nothing lasts forever -- someone will come along and challenge google's dominance sooner or later.

maybe this is just what yahoo needs to make their advertising network a bit better. Lots of real estate for a poorly run ad network.

oh wait that is exactly why google is afraid of anti-trust go figure

Friggin bummer. Yahoo needs google ion this way to stay independent.

I am pissed off at Yahoo, yes. And it needs work I agree. Fact is that each specialises in a niche of sorts and does that niche "well" so to speak.

W/o google in the miox, yahoo will lose revenue and potentially make sunnyvale California a little emptier than it is now. Yahoo might could suck, but we need yahoo as is. Thats a fact.

I sure in all don't want MicroShit to own them and I really am no fan of The GoogleBoob grabbing them either.

WTF ? Oh well man. I aint got money that large. What can I do to fix it ?

I'm glad the deal is dead!

I completely agree with the Justice Dept. on this one. And if I wanted to deal with Goofle, I'd use AdWords.

As for MS getting Yahoo, better them than Goofle getting its meat hooks into any part of it!

who knows maybe this is just a ploy for g to get yahoo cheaper :-)

Steve what is independent about yahoo depending on g for ad revenue? Yapoo has it's own ad network...maybe now they will invest in making the their ad net"work" to be independent.
