FindWhat.com anyone heard of them? When I was playing with Scroogle I notice a lot of their sites were the ones missing from Google. Or at least seemed to me that way.

I take it unlike Overture they don't partner with search engines?

They do partner with search engines, among them CNET’s Search.com, Excite, Webcrawler, MetaCrawler and Dogpile. They are a lot smaller than Overture, but I've had pretty good luck with them.

I understand they partner with parasites/plugins (such as Superbar) to get traffic.

My two cents worth.. traffic levels are dire, clicks are expensive for the poor quality they provide, and the approval process takes ages. I used to use them when they charged one cent a click, but 5 cents is overpriced in my opinion.

I do OK with them too in some markets, but, yeah, they do have a few dodgy partners. No more than Overture, though.

I've been using Findwhat for a long time and used to do well with them. The last month or two though, my sales have really dwindled from my advertising with them. My account ran dry yesterday, and this is the first time I have not added more money into my account. I did notice a lot of traffic from Hotbar with them lately.

    Thanks All.

5 cents? That does sound too expensive for some of the sites I saw.

Findwhat.com is a publicly traded company FWHT located in NY, NY.
Cash and cash equivalents at September 30, 2003 exceeded $54.0 million.
    FindWhat.com has no long-term debt.

FindWhat.com and Espotting Media, Inc., Europe's "Best Paid Placement
Service" (Search Engine Watch Awards), announced the signing of a merger
agreement. On September 19, 2003, FindWhat.com announced it was renegotiating the proposed merger. FindWhat.com and Espotting management continue to work together actively on a review of Espotting's historical financial results, including results. Upon the completion of the review, FindWhat.com intends to engage in exploring new terms that could lead to a revised merger agreement.

They are tied in with BeFirst Internet Corporation, a search engine optimization company out of Florida who's clients include eBay.com, AvenueA.com, Wine.com, GMBuyPower.com, TheStreet.com, Carsmart.com.
Furniture.com, Mortgagebot.com and RollingStone.com which presents a certain conflict of interest imo.

I agree with markymark that there is good money to be made with them.

As for the slow review process, you can call them after 48 hours of submission and get ads approved in 10 minutes.

There editorial policy is far more open than adwords or Overture.
I recently got approval for the title Best DAMN widgets on Earth.
They also offer a 250 character description which should be enough to pre-sell or limit almost anything.

I'd recommend staying away from common CORE phrases since these phrases are the target of dodgy partners and domain squatters where results are shown.
