Here we go again!

--------------------------------------------
1- "Someone dies from smoking every 72 seconds.

2- Smoking causes more deaths than alcohol, AIDS, illegal drugs, car crashes, fires, murders, and suicides combined."

3- "I quit smoking a few months back due after reading a book called allen carrs easy way to stop smoking. It is available from amazon.com and has a 90% success rate. Plenty of copies are available even though it says out of stock."
--------------------------------------------
1- Someone dies every few seconds in this planet, because it is their time to go.
2- When is time to go is time to go and it will not matter at the end how do we go, life is short and unless someone can really show proven evidence of life after death it will make no difference of how or why we all will eventually kick the bucket (die).
2b- Don't smoke, you may get cancer, Don't have sex you may get aids, Don't drive, you may die in a car crash, Don't do this or that because you may die sooner..... Don't do any of this, and you may live a little longer.

(Don't Eat meat, eggs, pork, bacon, icecream, fried foods, etc, - Don't Drink coffee, beer, wine, rum, tap water, eggnog, soda, etc...Don't have sex, french kiss, mast***ate, Don't kill yourself.) and by the way (If you belief in some super natural entity, you may go to that place you have in mind when you eventually get your final destination.

3- Just curiuos but, is this is a (allen carrs) book promotion?

---------------------------------------

"I know there are people who smoked their whole lives, lived to be 102, and never had a sick day, but they are the minority."

1- Me too but, they are the minority, are you sure?
------------------------------------
"If they hadn't smoked they would probably lived to be 120."

1- Listen, would you really want to lived to be 120? - The way I see it now, after 80, this may happen
Your family may send you to a resting home, you may develop alzheimers and lose your memory, you may have to start to wear pampers again, you will be fragile, you will shrink, you will not have sex, you may fall and brake your hips, do I need to said more?
-----------------------------------

And to conclude I will not promote any of those bad habits on any of my websites, but I will never criticise any body for living their life the way they want to live, as long as they don't interfere directly with my life or my way of seeing reality from my point of view.

I know there is a fortune to be made in the porn, tobacco, spam and ilegal activities advertising, but since that goes against my principles I will not engage in any of those activities, not now, not ever but never because I was afraid of dying any sooner, it is just because of morality issues.

George recently had a full medical check up. When he returned 3 weeks later
after the exhaustive lab tests were complete, his doctor said he was doing
"fairly well" for his age.
George was obviously a little concerned about that comment and so asked his
doctor "Do you think I'll live to be 80, doctor?"
He replied, "Well, do you smoke or drink beer?"
"Oh no", George replied, "I've never done either."
Then the doctor asked, "Do you eat grilled steaks or barbequed ribs?
George replied, "No, I've heard that red meat is very unhealthy."
"Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf?" asked the
doctor.
"No I don't," George replied.
Then the doctor asked, "Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or mess with women?"
"No," said George, "I've done none of those things."
The doctor looked at George and said, "Then why do you want to live to be
80?"

My son is 8 years old and now finally joined basketball. I'm so excited and try to help out by going to practice with him and of course all the games. It keeps my memories of the good ole' days alive.

I remember when I was in basketball my coach would smoke cigars during practice and games. We ran just as fast as the kids do now day and our lungs were none the worse for it.

Contrary to the anti-smokers adjenda, which is just one of many unhealthy practices, it is not even remotely the major cause of medical expenses or deaths in the USA. Obese people, poor fast food diets, lack of exercise, and all overweight medical problems attribute to 2/3 of all medical bills and deaths in the USA. Sticking a cigarette into your pie hole in most cases is taking a break from what is really killing you!

Recent release stats by the Big 3 automakers and 5 major fortune 100 employers confirmed overweight employees raised their medical expenses by 400% in the last 5 years. Some companies are now faced with a choice ...fire the fat folks or demand they exercise 2 times a day at work and loose weight to receive and pay increases. The alternative is for the companies to go out of business because they cannot afford healthcare cost increases.

If I smoke and don't die from accident, I will probably die from some ugly, disgusting, costly disease.

If I don't smoke and don't die from accident, I will probably die from some ugly, disgusting, costly disease.

However, If I smoke, I will probably do it sooner and be less of an over all burden on society and my children in my declining years.

People say smoking kills you. That may be true but no one has told me that if I don't smoke, I won't die. I'm going to fri'n die no matter what I do and chances are very good that it will be ugly, disgusting and costly.

Hopefully, I will have pleased someone before I go. Hopefully, I will have carried my own weight. Hopefully, I will have harmed none very much. Hopefully, someone will regret my passing. Hopefully, I will pass into Summerland and be better prepared for the next incarnation where I will do better. Right now, I am going to smoke.

Mr.Merchant, if you do business in any way what-so-ever with parasites, your products will not be sold on my sites!!

Yeah, that a) Sucks and b) is currently true.

Until a way to not die (and not get frail either) is discovered, I find all this talk about things being unhealthy to be mostly moot.

It seems that a person *can* influence if they'll die from Disease A or Disease B, but there still isn't a way to do the only thing that really counts: NOT DIE AT ALL!

Plus, what Webmistress said. The couple of extra years promised by all the "healthy living" some advocate doesn't strike me as worth it. What good is having 2-3 more pleasureless years?!?

I'd interpret it slightly differently:

quote:
Don't smoke, you may get cancer

If you smoke, you're more likely to get cancer and other related illnesses - it's your choice to take that risk.

quote:
Don't have sex you may get aids

No. Practice safe sex.

quote:
Don't drive, you may die in a car crash

No. Drive carefully. Let's face it - a lot of people don't while they're speeding along trying to get to their destination in a hurry.

It's all about taking responsibility for your own life - it's really not that hard to grasp.

You guys have every right to smoke. You could get killed crossing the road at any moment. It could even be said that non-smokers are selfish for not respecting smokers rights. I am not an anti-smoker. It is your right and MUST be respected.

That said, how many of you will encourage your kids to smoke? No, I didnt ask if you would allow your kid to smoke if they made that choice I said how many of you will *encourage* your kids to smoke?

Nicote is an insecticide and not one of you will encourage your kids to systematically destroy their health with it. Taking a cut on someone elses inevitable suffering is wrong and cancer commissions are indefensible.

Telling a kid what to do and what not to do is the parents responsibility.

Personally, I perfer not to lose any of my teeth by tell any of my freinds how to live their lives.

If I can save my freinds money by helping them buy their cigerettes over the Internet I'll happily take the cancer commission thank you.

Life is sufferring, get use to it. The sooner you stop b*tchin about it the less the rest of us will suffer.

Now, smoke them if you got them and have a good day.

It must have been because there was no useful information from the book mentioned.

Fact is you can't get out alive and probably don't want to live past the point where you can take care of yourself.

Grilled steaks are likely to join cigarettes, asbestos, DDT and arsenic on the federal government's long official list of substances suspected of causing cancer.

Please pull the bbq grills off your site before it is too late.

Geeez, not this argument again. It's nearly 2004 and information on cigarettes, cholesteral, aids, and anything else that effects a persons quality of life is available for ANYONE. People have to be responsible for their OWN lives.

I suppose if I used the same logic as the anti-smoking argument, if I open a MacDonalds Franchise I'd be throwing open the gates of hell. Imagine all the people I'd be killing with every Double Cheeseburger, Large Fries and Strawberry Milkshake that was served in my establishment.

There are hundreds of products and services that are sold on the open market that are detrimental to the well being of portions of mankind. Each individual has to be responsible for their own well being, at least until enough people decide that the product or service should be OUTLAWED for sale.

Currently, I don't sell tobacco products online - but I am trying to raise money to open a chain of private clubs that operate in states that have outlawed smoking in restaurants. The private clubs of course would be called "Smokie's" and would allow smokers to light up with a cup of coffee without having to sit in the rain or the cold. There of course will be a 2-Pack minimum at the door.

Would I feel bad? Not a bit...I'd be providing these folks who are going to smoke anyway a valuable service and comfort.

As I stated before if this is such an issue go somewhere and make a difference as I doubt anything in here would be construed as really doing anything about it. Just shallow talk as most who think their adgendas are always the only ones

For all you folks who want to avoid dying - be careful what you wish for.

There's a Janacek opera, "The Makropoulos Case", which shows what you could turn into.

This synopsis of that opera doesn't sound like anything all that bad happened. Did I miss something? I did skim it kind of quick...

I doubt I would want to die after 300 years even if things got dull. But in any case, I want it to be my choice and not just something that happens whether I like it or not!

She turns into an ice-cold cynical monster.
Men are constantly destroying themselves over her.

She retains enough humanity to effectively end it by not replenishing the elixir which gives her eternal youth.

But, in the end, she is a very sad individual.

But - most important - the music is WONDERFUL

I'm listening to it right now.
