    Cresent, Venus, Jupiter
It isn't the "smile" that Chris Sanderson posted, but it's a cool shot nonetheless

Taken outside my house, it has to be bright to show up in the sky here!

FYI: Venus is the lower planet and Jupiter is the higher...

It looks the same here as it does there Chris, only that Saturn and Jupiter set before the moon so if it's not dark enough at your latitude you won't see them until the moon is above the two planets like Loxly shows them. I went out to get a pic but I had waited too late, only the moon was showing.

Nice shot Debbie! Can't see the stars here tonight but I've been noticing Venus and Jupiter in the evening sky lately...

Yup - Nancy and I saw that same scene as we went out to dinner last night. I "thought" about going back for my camera, but just knew someone else would capture the shot.

It really did make for an interesting early night sky. And you certainly did justice to the display.

Are you sure its venus? I've been seeing the same two planets as well. But I always thought venus rose just before dawn in the eastern sky.

Depending on the relative orbit positions of the two planets, Venus is known either as the Morning Star or the Evening Star. It can and does appear in both positions. The same happens with Mercury, which is not nearly as bright nor does it climb as "high" in the sky. So Venus has garnered all of the "fame."

It's widely reported in the news this week that these are the planets that are visible.

We first heard about it on the evening news last night and ran out to take a peek. Had to go back for coats as it was worth a super peek.

    Great picture too Loxly.
