    USPS.gov down
Technically, it is up but all eCommerce transactions are not functioning.

It's been down for the past 2 days. Imagine if this was an eCommerce company before Christmas... I wonder if any departments got laid off due to that.

Go to USPS.gov as you will see this page featured on the main page.

It's working fine on our site but we're not using eCommerce.

Incorrect - The USPS is a self-funding organization (though currently saddled with a decent chunk of debt and is unprofitable at the moment), and is not supported with tax revenue.

The problem is intermitent. We have had orders go through the last 2 days, just sometimes you have to wait for a while. But still it isn't good for this to happen in December. Of course, no time is a good time for someone and this is the first time i remember something like this happening.

    How is that so?

"Postmaster General John E. Potter went before Congress yesterday to argue that the postal service needs more funding from the government than what has been proposed by the Bush administration."

it's an old article but I am sure nothing changed since then. Unless Congress is funded by private funds, in my books, it is publicly funded. It is called www. usps. gov for a reason.

We turned off USPS shipping options at the beginning of the week. We've certainly lost some smaller orders, but the rest at least get a responsive cart and most are willing to go with UPS.

This started on Monday and the APIs are still horked today. Wonder if they'll get it sorted by the new year...

Problems might be related to updating the site for the new rates in January. Yes, they just went up in May but they're going up again in January. We are already charging the new rates because large items ordered now won't go out til 09. We adjust charges if it goes out sooner.
