    dashes in the URLs
    Hi,

I have built a few websites with WebMerge and think it's a great product overall but today I'm having a problem. In the first builds of my sites WebMerge would change a space to a dash when creating the files and links. But now it it just getting rid of the spaces.

For instance if the field in my spreadsheet is San Diego the file name a in the last build was San-Diego.html. When I try to build a site today the URL it is trying create is SanDiego.html.

Does anyone know how to make the dashes come back?

    Thanks

I would first double-check this in v2.5, which is in testing now. You can download that from our Download page here:
    http://www.fourthworld.com/products/.../download.html

This is another free upgrade, so there's no additional cost involved. The benefit of using v2.5 is that a number of bug fixes have been addressed there, and it may be that this was among them. It also means that if I need to fix something else, I can do so quickly since I have that code open all the time and am due to post another build very soon.

If the problem recurs in v2.5, try using the File Name Hyphenator tool in the Tools menu.

Please keep me posted with how that goes.

    Thanks,

I'll try out version 2.5. If that does not do it I'll try the File Name Hyphenator. I saw that in the documentation and was wondering if it might work. However I looked in the tool menu and only see a Debugger and Tag Maker. I'm on a mac so maybe it has a different menu?

The v2.4.2 download should include the Hyphenator tool. It should also be in v2.5 as well. Try a fresh download and install and it should be there.

    Thanks.

v2.5 solved the problem. Seems to be pretty stable so I stick with 2.5 unless I run into a problem (I'll let you know if anything comes up).

Glad that worked out. So far reports with v2.5v have been pretty good. I have one more thing to add to it before the release candidate is posted, possibly before Christmas so folks can play with it over the break.
