Did you see how fast secret service protected the president. Had that been something other than shoes tisk tisk. I think some servicemen are getting fired. My great great grandmother would react faster.

I'm betting everyone was searched for weapons prior to entering. Secret Service just needs to add shoes to the list of "deadly weapons."

TSA did that years ago after the "Shoe bomber".

My favorite quote from the CNN article:

"In Arab culture, throwing shoes at someone ... is considered an insult."

I have to ask, are there some cultures where that would be considered a nice gesture??

    LOL

All joking and yucks aside, it feels awful to see someone throwing their shoes at our president.

Just writing that sent me into a fit of giggling so maybe it's still funny as hell.

My biggest concern is the reaction time from the Secret Service guy, why did it take him so long to come to the President's rescue? The guy was able to take off his second shoe, polished it, buffed it, threw it and missed again before the SS guy showed up.

You don't have to be a fan of George W. to be upset about this. As long as he is President of the United States and even in retirement a President is more than a private person, he or she represents the U.S. and the insult was hurled at us.

You can't really fault the Secret Service guys, in a room like that (packed with reporters and camera crews), the first thing they probably heard was an order not to shoot, then they had to get past all the camera crews and such.

I'd just spray paint/die the guy pink, shave the left half of his head and kick him out the door, it's this type of political stunt that gets people hurt and under Sadam he'd be 'disappeared"

Or perhaps give him a medal for trying?

I think perhaps Bush has quick reflexes as his wife might have given him plenty of practice.

ABW is not the appropriate place to make fun of our president, whoever he may be. There are other places where you can do that. Since this thread is beginning to degrade I closed it...
