Is it possible to make $$ parking a domain? I signed up with a Domain Auction site to sell a domain and while browsing I read a blurb about parking domains and getting paid to do it.
Has anyone ever done made $ by parking a domain?

I've been domaining for almost four years now. Parking revenue has plummeted thanks to Google pushing parked domains to the bottom of the search results. Unless you have a 'premium' domain, ie: direct type in name, don't expect to get too excited. I've been letting an average of 75 domains expire per month since the bottom fell out in about June. My parking revenue dropped 99%.
Google has realized they lost a ton of revenue by doing with they have done. Can be argued on both sides on this one.
Google this past week has now announced that they will get into domain parking - but it's far too cumbersome for a large portfolio owner. Requires advanced DNS settings, which equates to about 5 minutes per domain if you're really good.
My personal feeling is "stay out" of domaining unless you can invest both time and money.

I have a couple hundred domains parked, mostly at SEDO (and a few elsewhere). I picked most of them up over the years with hopes of developing a niche site around some of them and using others to promote my travel stuff. Even though parking revenue has declined, the names I have not yet developed more than pay the cost of keeping them registered. I haven't missed a monthly check from SEDO in four years.
Every once in a while I get an offer. I Recently sold a single name, small town in New York for four figures - I figured it was worth only a couple hundred bucks because there are no hotels in the town. Ya never know.
And I occasionally get to work developing one. For example I just pulled one out of parking and put it on a server about an hour ago. See THIS THREAD (post #47) for the niche. I did so "because" of that thread.

I agree, only if lots of people will type the domain directly into their browsers - and if you have a domain like this, I would try to turn it into an affiliate marketing site to get commissions and long-term customers instead of just serving a bunch of parked domain ads.
