    Question Yahoo Deals!
Anyone got a idea what this is all about ?

    http://deals.yahoo.com/coupons

Is this Yahoo as an affiliate ?

Or is this some new thing / where people are able to post there links up ? PPC ?

It looks like PPC adds to me Magi. I believe most search engines are doing those type of ads now.

They appear to have changed the name since the beta:

Yes, they are now an affiliate (as is MSN)

I would edit your post, no point giving them the backlink

When you first post you have something like 10 minutes when you can edit it, then it's permanent. You could click on the red triangle in the upper right corner of your post and ask a mod to unlink it for you, I think that might work.

I thought you were asking about the site, it started out as a coupon site, but they have since renamed it "Deals".... just an affiliate coupon site, this one owned by Yahoo.

Which ad are you talking about..? Did you get to the site by a PPC ad that uses a merchant name ..?

Ummm .. I found the deal thingy from a search refferal that comes up on my "Online Users Log" from my portal site

Basicaly I was checking out where users came from .. it was a search result from yahoo.. so i went to the link ..

and my site was on the list but on top there was these "Deal" thingys that i didnt see / have been before ..

SO i went and checked it out ..

If you do DEBUGGIN on it .. All the links on there have a Affiliate ID, but its not the same AFF ID - its a couple of them

So im trying to think .. is this Yahoo doing the ads for that deal thingy? or is this other affiliates using this new Yahoo Deals to plug in stuff ..

Oh, very interesting, I didn't realize that!!

It doesn't look like a user-submitted engine, but I found this: "Yahoo! Deals features bargains from sites such as Woot!, BradsDeals, and Amazon, on the front page"

So that might explain why you saw different affiliate id's, but I don't know enough about these contributors to know if they accept user-submission. I could see Yahoo in a bit of a pickle if they source user-submitted deals that are in violation of merchant TOS. Who would be responsible for policing the info? Just something to watch for...

You know, it amazes me too. If I was a merchant, the last thing I would accept would be a user-submitted deal/coupon engine. It wouldn't be worth the effort - I would probly end up spending as much time & money policing as the store would earn in sales (net of commission!).

Some merchants do monitor this - I've received a number of sweeping emails saying "it has come to our attention that some affiliates have been posting unauthorized coupons, yadda yadda"...

But something tells me they don't have as much policing in place as they should!
