    Angry Blogger/Blogspot Meta tags problem!
    Hi Everyone,

    I am trying to add meta tags for description & keywords on my blog on blogger/blogspot. But I keep getting the following error!

    Blogspot Error: Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly.
    XML error message: Element type "meta" must be followed by either attribute specifications, ">" or "/>".

    I have tried the below codes to add meta tags-

    <b:if cond='data:blog.url == "http://exampledotcom/"'> <meta content='My-DESCRIPTION' name='description'/> <meta content='My-KEYWORDS' name='keywords'/> </b:if>

    Also I tried this alternative code-

    <META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="My-keywords "/>
    <META NAME="description" CONTENT="My-Description"/>
    <META NAME="revisit-after" CONTENT="7 days"/>
    <META NAME="robots" CONTENT="FOLLOW,INDEX"/>

    Both the codes fail to add meta tags.. I know these codes worked well on the old blogger. But I have read that the new blogger is using XML.. So I am not sure what to do now. Some people are saying, even if the code works, the other posts on my blog with have the same meta tags so it will hurt me as far as SEO optimization is concerned..

    Can anyone help me out?

    Thanks in Advance,

    Starchet

    and use <meta not <META
    Don't capitalize metatags in XHTML
    Some people are saying, even if the code works, the other posts on my blog with have the same meta tags so it will hurt me as far as SEO optimization is concerned..
    They are right. All the pages and posts use the same header file. Metatags are only useful on a per page basis. If you switch to WordPress you can import all your posts and add a piece of code that takes care of the metatags. Free blogger is not the best tool to optimize.

    Thanks everyone for the help. So basically there is no way out of this problem. I will try the suggestion to add a space & small m for META.

    Is wordpress blogging better in terms of optimizing & ranking on google? If so, i will switch to wordpress.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks once again,

    Starchet

    Wordpress is better but more complicated. Blogger is an 'out-of-the-box' starter site for someone who wants to try out blogging, not the best platform for expansion and marketing.
    Read more about it before you start: http://wordpress.org/. You will need your own domain for affiliating.

    It's good to use blogger instead of using many many other blogging services, because Google owns it, and because it's an open source service with many good tools (like gadgets). If you know HTML, use your blog with .com domain, and it's done!, a good website.

    I think -in my opinion- that google doesn't care about meta tags in blogspot blogs, and as we know, content is king, PR and backlinks are important too, that what will Google analyze with blgspot blogs, and I know many blogs without meta tags are ranked well in SEs, especially on google results.

    But you can use it:
    <meta name="keywords" content="your keywords here" />
    <meta name="description" content=" your description here" />
    <meta name="ROBOTS" content="ALL" />

    Note: Add this meta tags after the first head.
    after <b:include data='blog' name='all-head-content'/>
    or after <title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title>.

    I hope that will help you
