When I was around 10 years old, my brother bought me a go-cart for Christmas. We had some woods behind our house and I rode that thing like a wild man!! Looking back now, I'm surprised I didn't end up breaking my neck. Anyway, I loved that go-cart and was the envy of all the kids in the neighborhood.

*sigh* I still remember a wooden toy train of Disney characters which went "clackety clackety" or something like that when I pulled it around the room.

I must have been about 5 or 6 when I got it. My Dad had found it thrown away in our local town dump (back in the days when small towns had dumps and people rummaged around in them -- long ago and we were poor). He was a carpenter. He refurbished and repainted it.

    Had the toy for years.

I got a Pedipaws and I'm scared to use the doggone thing (pun somewhat intended).

They make it look so simple on TV.

I am a big fan of love, peace and hope and anytime anyone shares that with me, it is the best. But as for commercial p r e s e n t s, it came this year. A brand new set of discontinued Yonex golf irons. The same ones I used in highschool. Southern Californnia State Champions 1999. Yes.

My best material present was last christmas my husband bought me a 2006 Jaguar S-Type.
But my best non material gift was this christmas. This morning my 2 year old daughter woke up at 5:00am because last night when I put her to sleep I told her when she wakes up Santa Claus will have been here and he brought you candy and toys. So when She woke up this morning I held her until I could get my husband and mother out of bed. When we walked down stairs I put her down, and see what I did was i filled her stocking up with candy and the rest of it I scattered around the tree like some kind of candy tile with presents on top. You should have been here, seeing that candy is a forbidden food in my house, her face got all red and she let out a scream of happiness that you would have just melted. And her first present she opened she was jumping up and down saying santa came santa came. I have it on film!

My sister makes and sells quilts and blankets. Well, the best present I got this year was a beautiful pink and green butterfly quilt my sister made. I love butterflies and my favorite color is green. It's nice and warm and cuddly and I just love it! I'm snuggled up in it right now.

My best present this year would have to be the snuggie my mom made me. I'm not sure if you guys have heard of this or not, but it's a blanket with arms.

Anyways, she went and got the material (fleece) at a local fabric store in town, and I printed out the pattern for her that my sister-in-law sent me. She originally was just going to make one for my nephew (the reason why my sister-in-law sent me the pattern). But she ended up making one for my daughter, my son, me and even my roommate.

In years past, (and there have been a "few" of those for this ol fisherman) I had many favorite gifts. My favorite gift (in my pre-parent era) was Christmas of 1970 when I proposed to Ellen and she accepted! That is the gift I cherish above all others. A lot of water has passed under our bridge since then.

In my after children life, my favorite gift was yesterday. My sons, their wives and our three grand babies were all here to share the day with us and it really reminded me of just how fortunate I have been. Little Eva Azusa Adachi - Hamilton (our 14 month old grand daughter) spent much of the day on my lap, laughing and playing with me and melting my heart. She spent the night with us last night, and as I write this, she is sleeping and I am looking forward to having her all day today.

The material gifts of the past and present have been nice, but nothing replaces the value of a loving family as my favorite gift.

Someone gave YOU Canoe cologne? Hmm - Yikes!! Guess it beats grandmas fruitcake, but not by much.
