    Free website monitoring service
Spoke to a few companies and some wanted like $5k/yr, while others wanted $15k.

All I wanted is a simple system that tells me.
    You site is down.

    This looks promising

    Easy to setup too

Try basicstate.com also. They send a report every day via email that shows:

    a) resolve dns
    b) connect to server
    c) send request
    d) receive first byte
    e) receive last byte

    -sfcom

I've been checking out the services mentioned in this thread myself. I really don't have money to spend on something like this, but all the "free" services are so limited.

I can't find anything on the sites mentioned anyway about doing multiple websites for free. Even the paid services limit you to 10-20 urls.

Any free services that might do unlimited, or at least 40-50, websites?

I use http://www.websitepulse.com/ They have a free 30 day trial that doesn't require a credit card. I pay 33 dollars a month to have three unique server urls monitored every 15 minutes. I tell you, having this monitoring has saved me big time. I had a bug in on my server that caused search to fail periodically. Without the monitoring, I would have never known, sales would have just been sporadically bad.

I wrote a "diagnostic" page that tests all functionality on my site. (e.g. search, content, lists, prices, etc). This is the url that I check with websitepulse. It is a lot cheaper than hitting each page individually.

So, I guess you can monitor one server for 11 dollars a month, or less if you want to check every 30 minutes or hour instead of 15 minutes.
Merchants, any data you provide to Google Shopping should also be in your affiliate network datafeed. More data means more sales!
