    I don't know what happened but it was made to look like Mail.com is doing drive by installs with some shopping buddy assistant. It ends up loaded on your computer and self installs regardless of wether or not you choose to install it or not. I've never even been to mail.com so somehow it was distributed another way.

    I guess it could be some sort of snow job to make mail.com look bad.

    It may possible be a user of mail.com that did the install or p

    Everyone.net also started doing that about 6 months ago. I used to use them for free forums and branded email, but had to get rid of it all when they started started carrying the drive-by installers as advertisers.

    I'm not sure who owns who, but mail.com apparently evolved from iname.com who offered fancy email domain names for free back in '96 or '97. they also included redirects to your mail box but started charging for it about a year and a half or so ago.

    I still have an account there with the domain information4u.com. I've noticed some popups recently (at mail.com) but haven't run adaware to see if I've picked up any fleas. I'll run it later today.

    nothing showing out of the ordinary on adaware, but I just realized I don't have the latest build. ooops.
