All they have to do is feed them some garlic, it will cut the amount of methane released in half ... but that would make sense, economically and might even make the meat more palatable ... but then the folks at A1 would complain and ask for a bailout.

    Gee, isn't that swell...

Let's see - probably take several tons of paper to create and maintain that. So much for natural filters like trees...

Guess we can continue to import more and more processed livestock, too - we don't need the jobs here in the U.S. -

And what about all the hot air being expelled in Congress and around the water coolers discussing this?

Maybe they should call this the Tax...

They'll tax the cows $175 and then use the tax money to bailout 'the poor' that can no longer afford the high price of milk...

Just one more reason to link up with a local organic/sustainable farm and buy your milk direct. Then at least the extra overhead you pay goes to the farmer instead of some bubble butt bureaucrat paycheck.

Haiko -- GARLIC?? Feeding it to milk cows? I've drunk milk from cows that got into garlic and the milk is AWFUL. Yuck!

As for cattle that are raised for meat -- I don't know. But milk cows, nah.

Funny story, but scary as well.

California wants to increase taxes on large screen TVs that use more energy, and thus add more CO2 to the atmosphere. Nearly every aspect of our existence could fall victum to this greenhouse gas garbage all in the name of global warming.

What if I've gone to the expense of installing wind or solar energy at my house. Will I still pay more for my big screen TV?

The most prevelant greenhouse gas is water vapor. How long before any activity that increases water vapor is taxed. Maybe we should drain the oceans, that would certainly cut down on water vapor, or stop irrigating, or stop breathing.

Years ago I caught an interview with Ted Turner where he went off on one of his signature tangents and said he tries to breathe as little as possible :-)

I could go for some global warming right now. We've had freezing rain all day today.

Ted Turner actually breathes? Hey, would the IRS lien a cow if the farmer doesn't pay up? Would they attach the cows earnings? Freeze its bank accounts? Sieze its assets? Milk it for everything it's worth?

Will CA or WA eventually lead the way in taxing humans on a per fart basis too? Have a resident flatulation tax and then a separate non-resident flatulation tax that would create another layer of revenue from tourism? Gives an all new meaning to the "flat" tax concept. Hey, that could spawn a re-popularization of the Adkins low carb diet too.

Maybe dairy and beef ranchers could put their cows on low carb diets to escape the tax? I feel a highly targetted niche eBook coming on.

Hmmm, big screen surcharge tax. It's about time those big screen types pay their fair share!!

That's the dirty little secret about global warming. If you live north of the 35th parallel, you spend half the year wondering if it would really be such a bad thing . . . not out loud of course ;-)
