    Question Pets Warehouse
They have been inactive on Shareasale since 01/04/2009. I sent an e-mail and have not received a response from Pets Warehouse. Anyone know what is going on with them? They were offered by GoldenCan on 12/11/2008 and that is why I joined them. Can't understand why they would sign up for a service and go inactive in less than a month.

Don't know - I had to inactivate their links on my sites.

They have 8 more days to respond or become active again or I purge them.

I give a merchant 7 days to get inactive again before I drop them. Most that encounter a problem and are coming back answer my e-mails. Those that don't answer my e-mail usually close their affiliate programs.

I'm amazed that Bob of Pets Warehouse hasn't responded. He's been a longtime very active member of the forum here. I have been an affiliate with their program at SAS for quite some time.

I really can't imagine what may have happened? Hope we get a response soon.

Oh i can imagine, I remember a long while back not getting responses when I tried to join

Not getting responses back from Merchants is a clear red flag for me.

Well im going to not promote them, and move on to another affiliate program

The beauty of affiliate marketing is there are always other companies who do bend over backwards to help you out vs those who think they are doing you a favor by letting you into their program to promote them

By the time gets back to business all his affiliates will have pulled their links. I rememebr this isn't the first time, nor the first ABW merchant pulling the wool over our eyes. Even their site has few of the categfory product images so their server/webmaster sucks. My bet is they are just an affiliate outfit using a pet supply inventory CD from a drop shipper.

I think he goes to the Summit. Maybe that's got him out of touch. I have talked with him on the phone and he seemed like a real solid merchant.

I've also spoken with Bob a couple of times at length via phone, and he ALWAYS seems like one of the "good guys." That's why it's really a puzzle as to why he hasn't responded to concerns here. Odd.

But my money's on Bob that he's trying to do the right thing once he gets the word about all this.

I just deleted all my sas links for them and took down the GC links, what a waste of time as I added all their links only a few weeks ago. I notice they are still active on GAN though.

I'm back, I'm really sorry for what happened.

There was a few large bogus orders that hit the account.

I left for east Africa on the 2nd just got back, I was completely out of touch.

The person I left in charge to watchdog the programs is now unemployed.

I will say that my office did not receive any calls about this issue unfortunately which would have perhaps alerted others here.

Again I apologize, hope you guys return to our program on SAS.

    Thanks for the update, Bob.

I have re-joined your program on SAS and will slot you for inclusion on my sites.

Also, could use some 728 x 90 leaderboard banners.

    Thanks!

Shouldn't going offline at Shareasale make it obvious to anyone in your office that there was a problem?

Being offline means no new affiliate traffic. Shouldn't someone have noticed that?

Can you elaborate, why were they not directed how to run the program in the first place since you knew you would be in Africa? It seems a bit harsh more people are been made unemployed in the current economic crisis when business should be doing all they can to keep their workers. Have you not seen Obama's speeches about every American needs to play their part in the rebuilding of the economy?

    Glinted,

The worker's ineptitude caused damage to the program's rep and integrity, I don't think Bob should be castigated for an appropriate business decision after such a major disconnect and failure.

Bob's a good guy and wouldn't fire someone just because it's Tuesday ... he has cause and he needs to make sure his business is strong so that it too can survive and provide jobs and value -- IOW doing his part as a successful business.

But a business can not jeopardize its very existence (and the continued employment of the totality of its work force) by feeling compelled to retain incompetent employees.

I'm a firm believer in the accuracy and pervasiveness of the Peter Principle.*

Perhaps a major part of the "the rebuilding of the economy" involves placing competent people in key positions (as the new President has done in choosing his appointees), even if that requires letting some employees go. (And perhaps they will find new employment positions more suited to their abilities.)

This isn't an original thought. Every president has said it. Remember Kennedy's "ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country."
And I don't think Obama means - keep an ignorant employee on the payroll out of duty to the country. Look at all the people in D.C. who have been or are about to get fired.

Just throwing in my two cents... totally off-topic... feel free to delete

that's fine and I will add the links again but I was just a bit concerned about this line (mind the pun) "yep!, they were blind and now joined the unemployment lines" Just didnt' come across as very positive.

But a business can not jeopardize its very existence...
As I pointed out earlier (direction), maybe management could take some responsibility as often workers only do what they have been shown. I just find it sad someone has lost their job now and that could mean in this climate a huge problem for another family. Plus having to go on unemployment with what seems no notice or time to look for another job seemed harsh.

Look at all the people in D.C. who have been or are about to get fired.
yes and the last thing the USA and the rest of the world needs now is more jobs to fall.

Individuals being fired for whatever reason, (such as performance) and others hired to replace them, is a totally different thing from jobs themselves going away.
