Cool Tool King Running Google Ads
Tool King is running Google AdSense ads on the bottom of every page on their site.

What a leak for the affiliates.

What's wrong with them? What are they thinking?

You would think they could install a cookie to have the Google Ads not show up when someone clicks in on an affiliate link.
I have some good months with ToolKing, this is disappointing.

While I can see the code in the pages, I haven't seen any actual ads myself (checking several pages). I did do some test clickthroughs from one of my sites last night while working on it, maybe the display for the div they're in is set to none for affiliate traffic? (just guessing, no actual proof there)

I'm also curious if the prominent Tooliday.com, Toologics.com, ToolKing.TV, TKSuperstore.com, etc banners/links on the front page track for affiliates that send traffic to toolking.com (doubt it). Either I have just never paid attention, or haven't checked the site in a long time.

That is correct, we are hiding the Google Ads if it is coming from an affiliate link. If you continue to see Google Ads through one of your affiliate links, please let me know.

I have been working with our web developer on this issue. My plan is to see if we can have the Tooliday link redirect to the same product on ToolKing.com (if it was coming from an affiliate link). I hope we can get these issues resolved quickly - I will keep everyone posted.

    Vong,
Have you all been following the OneCause issue? I see Tool King on the list as one of their merchants.

    Thanks Vong

Just tested through a couple of my links (Shareasale, not Avantlink) and there were no google ads visible.

What John said. How many networks is ToolKing active on, if you partner with OneCause? Your partnering with them is enough cause for me to pull all my links.

It never ceases to amaze me that a merchant would place AdSense on their site to send shoppers to their competitors for a few cents a click...

A quick fix to the Tooliday issue: If coming from an affiliate link, the link will be disabled and it will just display the image. I was told the Tooliday link on top is not going to be there when we have more deals to fill up the space.

The link should be removed by tomorrow.

Thanks from me also. Would you care to write a testimonial as to why you dropped them? Something we could use to try to persuade other merchants to see the light.

This thread sort of went OT. Dropping OC is definitely good news, and steps were taken to prevent AdSense from showing when an affiliate cookie was present. But I'm wondering what the reasoning is behind this merchant's decision to become an affiliate with AdSence ads that most likely result in lost sales for a few pennies. One lost sale will require MANY clicked AdSense links to compensate. Giving the shopper the opportunity to leave your site for the prospect of a better deal somewhere else just doesn't sound like good business sense.

Vong, no disrespect intended by pressing this point, but I would really like to know the merchant's perspective on the AdSense tactic. I visited your site and compiled a list of competitors that you are advertising with your AdSense ads on your "Shop by Category" page. How does this promote YOUR business?

    "for a few pennies"

I've seen that posted before but the reality is, it isn't a few pennies. I have a forum and some clicks get around 10 cents, every now then over $1, some a few dollars. And the forum's topics, the stuff is pretty cheap. With tools, it isn't a few pennies, who knows could be a few bucks.

But it's never looked good to me when a merchant had Adsense up, it is a leak to likely competitors, not good if you happen to have an affiliate program since affiliates don't like that stuff and to me it shows a lack of confidence on the merchant's part.

But it is more than a few pennies.

I think merchants think, that if someone came to their site and found what they liked, they would buy, get the sale. Sometimes they don't find what they like and leave. They can leave and leave the merchant $0 or leave on an Adsense click for a few bucks.

On the flip side, they might leave on an Adsense click, you get the few bucks, they find a competitor and buy from them and that competitor is a good one, one the customer will shop with again in the future, even might become a lifelong customer. So in that scenario, not good if you had up the Adsense.
