    Talking What a weird day
So today started off as probably my worst day in affiliate marketing in months. By about 4pm PST, I had about a .4% conversion rate on all my programs and had spent more money than I made. Thinking it was going to be my worst day since I started, I turned off the computer had dinner and worked out. I came back on and see that today turned out to be my most profitable day ever.

Maybe it is because all my competition is at affiliate summit. :-)

    What a strange day.

From "weirdo" to great-do"... nice experience huh. This is one example of the saying, "when it rains, it pours".

Of course it could be that you are spending too much time looking at your statistics!

I might be cheeky and suggest that that was hootlessness in action.

As soon as you let go of wanting to control the results, switched the PC off and went and did something else, it took care of itself.

There is one thing that I've learned about this business a long time ago. You can be sure of one thing: every day will be different.

One day you might have sales all day long, and the sales are really low, or they might be big sales. There are days where I don't get a sale all day long, and then BOOM, just like you, they all come that night. Other days I get them all in the morning, and I think that day is gonna be my best, and then nothing else...

I've learned not to check my stats too often, because by the end of the day, you never know how many sales you will get.

Prime example, just the other day was my best day ever in sales and traffic, then the very next day was one of my worst...then the sales picked way back up the next day... It's definitely a roller-coaster ride!

Sounds like a case of watched pot syndrome. When you do all that you can do sometimes you just need to walk away and let nature and the buying public take its course.

Yes, I enjoy stats way to much for my own good. One thing that I am trying to learn is not to pay to much attention to them throughout the day, but it is definitely tough for me.

So easy to recommend watching stats less, but most of us are addicted because it is so fun and informative.

We can avoid the "three hour fear", but then we might miss the "three hour cheer".

The three hour fear can bring us down or it can motivate us to work harder.

The same with the three hour cheer. We can relax and celebrate or we can realize that good stats are the reward for previous hard work.

Overall, we should work more and stat watch less, but this is a difficult diet to follow because stat watching is so tasty and addictive.

For some of us, statistics are a wonderful obsession! If it wouldn't be websites, I'm sure it would be something else

I laughed out loud at this post.. I had a good day yesterday, but one of my steady performers had only a few very small sales, and low conversion. No cause for worry as I don't measure daily, but it did make me think of new ideas to boost the page.

After I read this post, I logged back in and there were 5 big sales!

It's also easy to forget that a cookie can sit idle for a few days.

    Gotta love this business...
