Email works best but if that doesn't work and you have a phone number, definitely use it. I don't think the manager would ignore emails from hotmail, but its very likely that you are in their spam folder.

Do you know if its run in-house or through an OPM, because all of the OPMs active here on ABW are very responsive.

    Try email then phone.

If you know the person's name, try googling for that person if he/she is an active person online

I'd do email / phone / IM - if you don't have their phone number you can also find the company phone number and see if an operator can put you through to the AM.

The fact that you have a hotmail acct shouldn't make a difference, but like others have said may land your email in the Spam folder.

I have my IM info in my sig here, but you need to tell me who you are when you add me because I get a lot of "spam" friend requests. Same on Facebook and Twitter. Email is best but if IM is listed it should be a way to also get in touch.

AIM or SKYPE are always good because some of the emails do get filtered and thrown into junk. And of course phone works as well

Email or phone get quick responses. The rest assume adoption of the next wave of latest and greatest tech. I may or may not use messenger, aim, yahoo, icq, skype, facebook, twitter, myspace, etc, but it's a sure thing I still have email and a phone...

    For me personally:

    Preferred way: e-mail.

For urgent issues: any method will work (phone, IM, PM/DM, etc).

I wouldn't say so. I see many affiliates using hotmail, gmail, yahoo, and other free e-mail accounts, and I appreciate and understand the reasons behind it. I would also say that most responsive AMs and OPMs do not care whether it's a hotmail-based e-mail or not. They'll respond regardless.

I answer emails even with an address from another 'planet'.

If you are active you must get a response within 24hrs.

Just to be devil's advocate, maybe they're on vacation? You could contact the merchant themselves if it's an in-house program and ask or the management firm to check.

Otherwise there's really no reason they shouldn't get back to you within like 24-48 hours after you've tried to contact them.

I always put my email in the program details. Also for me Skype or msn messenger usually works.

Maybe it depends on how urgent the message is. Normally email is used, however, if they do not reply quickly and the message is urgent, try calling.

It shouldn't matter how you contact the AM as long as you do. It's their job to reply to you in a timely manner and if they don't get back to you in a reasonable amount of time, or at all, it might be worth finding another merchant program.

Aside from that, I'm available by phone, email, IM, facebook, twitter and will even pick up late night calls (let's not all go testing that last one now

Hope you get through to your AM's somehow. Otherwise, you might want to move on...

This is not aimed at the OP, but when you email AM's be sure to include full contact details and what you want [the more detail you give, the better the response from the AM will likely be].

I'm constantly getting voice mails/emails where the sender does not make clear; who they are, what they want, and which affiliate program they are referring to.

I prefer an introduction email, followed by a [scheduled] call if necessary.

    Anyway you want!
The questions should be, “how do you prefer to contact your AM?”

Keep in mind, you never know when an email bounces/ goes to a spam folder. So if you’re not getting a reply via email, I would follow up with a phone call/aim.

AIM seems to be the preferred instant messenger client of the industry over Yahoo or MSN. Is it just me or have other people noticed that as well (since Dan brought it up)?

I haven't used AIM in 2 years. I won't even load it to my computer, it is so horrible now. My preferred IMs are Yahoo and Skype. No I won't use an aggregator either any more. Been there done that.... I also dislike MSN.

Why would you think AIM was the preferred IM for any industry?

Let's have a messenger poll and find out what's the most used Messenger nowadays. I have AIM, Yahoo but only pop them open a few times a year. I use MSN Messenger everyday since I use Hotmail for email.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I prefer AIM lol... just saying that most of the time when I get a business card from someone or see contact info, if any IM username is listed, I've just noticed that more often than not I see AIM over the others.

Personally I love MSN... used it at my last job as an internal communicator and like the functions. I do use an aggregation client though so it never really mattered much to me.

Just curious if anyone else noticed an over abundance of AIM... guess not

Yes. All of the above. The question is not what works best for ME (the affiliate manager) but what works best for YOU!

That probably means they suck. Just being honest. If they disregard your email, it means they suck. OK, they MIGHT be getting caught in a filter. So call them and IM them. If they still don't respond, drop them...they need to lose their job fast!
