    Learning to build web apps
Well, having mastered everything else (cough), I've decided to learn how to build a web app for my current employer in order to effectively digest multiple data tables and start to show product trends, likeliness of products cross selling, etc.

Can someone point me to a good resource in order to learn safe, efficent database construction?

I'll be essentially pulling info from an existing database, importing it to a "marketing database" of my own design, and then injecting key elements back into the production database.

I so love learning new skill sets. And this will be my most challenging to date, I would suspect.

You need to look at the WROX and O'Reilly Books. They are the best written and easiest to understand.

Then after you get the a good solid base, the online resources will be a lot easier to understand

The mysql docs online are pretty good. Try using phpMyAdmin to get the hang of databases.

A really, really great book is:

    MySQL by Paul DuBois

That book by Paul DuBois is great, it took all the mystery out of MySQL for me. It is like 1,000 pages, but all you need to read is the first 300 to get a good grasp of what is going on. It is one of those books you say "why can't all computer books be like this"
