Affiliate Program with No Banner Images
Not like it's against the law or anything, but this is now the 3rd merchant I have seen that did not have a single Banner available in the affiliate interface. I ended up quitting these merchants for this very reason. It seems odd, at least to me, to have an affiliate program and not have any banners.

I actually emailed one of the merchants and asked about Banners and got a reply that said something like this, "do you think banners would be helpful?".

I find that a lot as well - surprises me, too.

While for the most part banners have a low CTR - merchants should realize that not all shoppers have "banner blindness", and that their BRAND or NAME is on those banners being exposed to the shopper - over, and over, and over.

Good point. When I started working on our internal affiliate program, there were no real banners available. Most of our affiliates actually sold our service through recomendation and made commissions that way. We just created a whole new lot of banner and I'm exicted to see some revenue generated by them, at least for our smaller online sale products.

I don't get a lot of click thrus from banners. I wouldn't mind if a vendor doesn't have banners. But I may want them to at least have logos of various sizes which I can use.

Text links can be incorporated anywhere on your page when you are writing your content.

You can build a thousand page site that has no banners for 99% of the merchants that you promote, even if you promote hundreds of merchants.

Banners just make it easy for lazy affiliates.

LOL - so says you. I'm far from lazy and while my banners have 1/10 the conversion rate of text / product links - how I have them incorporated on my sites still allows them to convert.

I didn't say that people who use banners are lazy.

I said that banners make it easy for lazy affiliates.

    Not the same thing

OK, we'll have to agree to disagree on the semantics...

When I say banners, I am really talking about company logos in standard sizes like 12x60 or 88x31.

Logos sometimes are banners in disguise.
Some vendors give you clean and true logos to use.
Some include their logo with a message or an animated gif which rotates a logo and a message. I don't consider them to be true logos. They are just micro banners and are annoying.

I've found that combining a smaller banner with text can work very well.

I like the 88*31 logos, but HATE it when the merchant rotates the image.

A small image looks terrible when you try to rotate different images in such a small space. Merchants should reserve the 88*31 for logos and nothing else
