LinkShare Resigns Overstock.com (Update - Going To CJ)
"For the past seven years, LinkShare and Overstock.com have enjoyed a productive and mutually-beneficial partnership.

However, we have been working together for some time to resolve a few mutual differences. In recent weeks, it has become clear to all involved that we cannot overcome them. As a result, LinkShare has resigned as Overstock.comís affiliate network provider. Of course, we will work to ensure a smooth transition for our publishers."

    http://www.linkshareblog.com/2009/02...-overstockcom/

So which network is going to pick them up.

And the wording. Usually merchants quit networks for whatever reason but the way they have it - "As a result, LinkShare has resigned as Overstock.comís affiliate network provider" it's like the other way around with Linkshare quitting them.

Will be very interesting to see where they go and how quick. Even though I can't sign up with them (NY affiliate) I hope it's a move to a better network.

Never seen such a wording before.
Something is going on like Overstock was thinking to sue LinkShare. I can't think of an other reason for a network to resign as a merchant provider.
Overstock can't overcharge LinkShare but it could be the other way around. Is it linked to OneCause?

Linkshare with all the issues that they have, resign as the Overstock affiliate network.

Makes you wonder what Overstock were doing. Probably something that would not have been good for Linkshare.

Interesting, Overstock.com still has the LS Affiliate Sign Up page.

Maybe they will end up with a totally parasite-free network.

But if you go to this page, the registration with LinkShare works.

I had a look in Synergy Analytics, Payment Received on 2009-02-03 for Overstock.
They have always been one the fast paying merchants.
So, they are not late paying LinkShare, it could have been a reason "to resign" them.

Was just thinking, now they'll have real time reporting (or close to it if CJ) wherever they go. So that'll be good. As to this resigning, there's always another side. Have to wait till more details come out, what network they're going to etc.

Can't wait for Patrick Byrne to spin this. What mad evil doers created this situation!?!? Time to short them, again.

That is not to speak highly of linkshare, but overstock has always been their own worst nightmare.

Don't think it's immediate, still getting emails, got one today with LS links for them. Linkshare or Overstock need to come out with some more details shortly.

Overstock may not be prepared for this and not have a new deal in the works.

I had one sale caming yeaterday. Hate to see merchants switching networks...but for whatever reason they do(merchant quitting or network resigning), better do it fast.

Yeah, first time, I'm hearing a network announcing that they are dropping a merchant. It looks like a preemptive effort by LS.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a lame reason like LS's fees and commissions on sales.

Maybe Overstock will go Indie ... it would save them a bunch of upfront money every month and 30% of the pay out ... if you strip out all the LS cost and silly stuff, Overstock might actually be able to survive this economic mess.

    I wonder if it will effect their;

Who really knows what kind of politics are going on there. I use Overstock through GoldenCan on my Super Junkerware Mall. Luckily, all I have to do is swap a few php files and I'm sending all of my would be Overstock/LS traffic to one of their competitors(also not a LS merchant).

An interesting question: If you're Overstock, do you start another program? Again, as a NY'er, I'm not an affiliate, so I don't know how much value O puts in the channel to begin with.
