Yeah, heard about this last nite.
Nobody survived + 1 dead on the ground. Continental 3407
Apparently it is a pretty new plane. So sad for those who did not make it

One of the victims was a widow whose husband was killed in the September 11 attacks. It's so sad.
Officials are talking about icing conditions, others of mechanical problems during the approach.

Sad, indeed. Our prayers for the dead and their families.

I just listened to the tape of Air Traffic Control for that area last night. All communications seemed normal. The (female) pilot was responding to approach control's directions to pick up the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and everything was proceeding normally. When she transferred to talking to the tower for landing clearance - the plane just disappeared. The approach radar controller had the Mode C transponder return (radar blip) disappear 5 miles from the runway - right on the approach path.

    So sad.

It doesn't happen very often (thankfully), but when it does, it is catastrophic

Happened about 10 minutes from my parents house. On one hand, it's close to home, on another, they aren't on a flight path, so it's light years away.

Certainly, my thoughts go out to everyone in Clarence, as well as the families of the victims.

I haven't seen a complete list of victims, but I'm not aware of even incidentally knowing any of them.

Kevin, I thought of you last night when they broke the story. Like you I have family in the area, but not directly affected.

Just watched the press conference for the crash and near the end the of the conference the reports just plain got rude. I can't believe that some people are that nasty in such a tragic situation.

Hard to think about, but it could have been much worse. The Buffalo airport is one of those that is away from a population center, it is actually east of the city and in the "boondocks". The plane hit only one house, it could have taken out a whole neighborhood.

I thought they would change the flight paths today, but according to the reporters on CNN, the planes are still flying over the same area.

I haven't seen the press coverage, as I've had a busy few hours here this morning, but I can only imagine, knowing what I know about the Buffalo Press in the first place. Very negative bunch, and I hope they come out looking poorly after this.

There are NO questions in a situation like this that need to be answered immediately, except to those that are directly affected.

Please pray for all on board.
My husband and I knew the crew as part of our extended aviation family.
I am still waiting for my heart to stop beating so quickly since I woke up to a newscaster describing my husband's plane, the airport he flys out of, and the worst words of all.."there were no survivors."
I don't remember dialing the phone. I remember taking a breath when I heard his voice.
Again, please pray for all the lost souls on board and those on the ground.

Dyan, what a rollercoaster you have been on! My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this. Tragedy always stretches its tentacles far past the initial event.
