PS Shops Now Advertise "PopShops™ affiliate stores"
Remember the "Powered by Golden Can" controversy last year?

Well, I was working with PopShops a little while ago, and they apparently did not learn the GC lesson - PopShops shops now have the following link to their home page at the bottom of their stores, as they appear on your sites:

    PopShops™ affiliate stores

It's not on the Enterprise stores, but I certainly agree, to see that link dozens, even hundreds of times by users who could care less is quite distasteful. It makes hosted sites look like freebie sites, not right. It's a cheap SEO attempt.

I just have the Pro package and don't see it with any pages I've already made.

Are you talking about new pages? The basic free version?

No - I use the $5/month package and it appeared today on existing stores.

I use the Pro package also and just checked several older shops and a couple I just created yesterday and I'm not seeing it on any of them yet.

If that appears on any of my pages I will remove all and cancel.

As of right now it is not appearing on any pages I checked.

That's the pro package, $5 a month, what I have. And I hope I don't see what you're seeing since I'm paying for this service and all the reasons given in that Goldencan thread.

Not showing on my Pro package either. I have no problem if they are showing it in Free Users Shops but not in paid members shops.

So, hey and hello, PopShops folks -- anyone out there reading this thread and care to respond or explain what's going on? Please??

Ah-HAH! Now I'm reminded about all the "just read the directions, please" talk I got from so many teachers back in my school daze.

If you go to PopShops.com under "Support" and read about the plan features, it says the "free" shops will have the "Powered by PopShops.com" and the "Pro" and "Enterprise" shops will not have it.

Perhaps this is a new feature. I'm pretty sure I don't recall having heard or read about it before.

It would be really helpful if they had their "support" info better organized so we would have known about this without that moment of panic and confusion. I can't even find that link in their "support" section which used to lead to a side-by-side comparison of the "Basic," "Pro," and "Enterprise" plans. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place. But that's the sort of information that needs to be pretty "up-front" and easy to find, isn't it?

I don't work with PopShops but I saw somewhere that if your payment fails they will put you in the basic package but will keep your shops as is (maybe with the affiliate stores branding).

GoldenCan is free and they realized that placing this link under every script wasn't a good thing. It cheapens the users site to have that link under every store. Yes, PS has every right to place it, I don't deny that. But hopefully, they'll read the GoldenCan link that AffiliateHound posted and realize that this is not the way to go.

That link is on the free, JavaScript-only plan. Any paid plan does not have that link. If you are on Pro or Enterprise and are seeing that link, then it means something is wrong (like your card may have been declined) and you need to contact support. (This is not new, PS launched this way, btw. )

    Affiliatehound, ping me directly please.

Create your custom affiliate store with PopShops.
General support: support [at] popshops.com | Merchant requests: merchants [at] popshops.com
(Include your popshops login, your shop name, and the URL or merchant you have an issue with.)

Thanks for the help Jessie and my apologies to you and PopShops.

The problem was with my account (and I swear I never saw the email they did send me informing me of the problem)

Its all rectified now and the PS links are gone from my shops.
