Will this new law greatly reduce the number of spam emails in your inbox?

Nope. Not if the law is enforcable by now (Jan. 2nd), or maybe the spammers don't care. Maybe they want to wait until a merchant get hauled into court. I opened my inbox this morning to receive 236 spam emails.

No it won't stop it, probably will just increase. The act basically makes SPAM legal if you include a postal address. And i bet Spammers just take this as a challenge and unload.

Spam email will always be a problem until the Internet community decides to do away with the fossilized SMTP protocol. The longer they wait the harder it'll be.

    Is this poll serious???

Everybody who's seen a DECREASE in Spam for any reason -- full moon, no moon, four-leaf clover in their lunch salad, lottery winnings, etc. -- please raise a hand.

    NO HANDS???

Does US Law apply to the whole world or the whole world is actually US? (except Iraq)

It is like cracks/serials, you can find them everyway in the internet although it is illegal.

Off all the spam and commercial emails I've received today (including some from pretty major corporations, affiliate networks, and ones regarding the CAN-SPAM law), not a single one has met all of the requirements of the CAN-SPAM law.

I have gotten a bunch of spam, it all goes to a unsubscribe page that says it will unsubscribe me. Personally, I think they will just change the look of the unsubscribe pages, I don't think they do anything. I also think this will INCREASE spam. I had three chinese spams today, in addition to the crap from my US friends.

No decrease of spam yet and I doubt there will be - some US spammers will simply relocate, others will comply with the requirements and then keep going....

I get no spam whatsoever in my personal email account. A year ago i decided to open another account just for friends and family to email me and i told them not to ever give my email to anybody, never send me any kind of "free greeting card" etc, and i've never had a problem since. I still have other accounts that get plenty of SPAM tho.
