February 26th, 2009, 04:11 PM #1Watch out for Coupon Offers from CyberCriminals
While investigating the Waledac malware, UAB malware analysts Brian Tanner and Thom Savage discovered a new scam targeting those who may be feeling the economic pinch.
Just wanted for all to watch out and let know their visitors/subscribers to what happened to Couponizer.com run by Amy Bergin.
Basically, a malware campaign that sends spam e-mails directs consumers to print local coupons off what looks like her website but it most certainly is NOT. By clicking on the links in the spam e-mail and on the counterfeit website your system becomes infected. Once infected, the malware can do several things to the unsuspecting user's system, including use it to send out other spam or install a keylogger that could result in data loss or identity theft.
