Why does SAS let merchants void the EXACT same sale multiple times?
I can't figure this out, and SAS support tickets only get me replies where they say they let Merchants void whatever they want. Why does Shareasale let merchants void the EXACT same sale multiple times? My commission was only a buck fifty, but the merchant voided the sale 4 times, so they took 6 bucks from me. So merchant's can take away more money than they pay? The merchant was [removed] who has a 140% reversal rate this week by the way.

Edited out the Merchant's name at the request of Shimmy. -Brian-ShareASale

    Another SAS Crooked Merchant.

Looks like SAS could stop this crap from happening all the time.

Shimmy, what did the merchant say when you contacted them?
Stop blaming the parasites, low return days, cookie stuffers, networks, lousy AMs, and TOOLBARS!

I'm awaiting the reply, but really this is more about why Shareasale would let merchants void the EXACT same sale multiple times, it makes no sense. To me it more of a SAS bug. A sale should only be allowed to be voided once in their admin section.

Shimmy, I agree that SAS should only allow an individual transaction to be reversed once.

I'd like to know, however, what the merchants side of the story is. Perhaps it's a simple error, or simple explanation.

I think you may have missed the part where I said they have 140% reversal rate this week.

Have you had orders in previous months that are just being voided now?

Or does the tranaction id match for all 4 orders?

It not only happens at SAS I had a CJ merchant do this 3 times on the same sale and it was alot more the $1.50 each time. However CJ & the merchant did correct my account after I contacted both of them.

    Shimmy,

If it was the exact same sale voided multiple times it would be an error and we can correct that. Send me your ticketID that you sent in and I'll follow up on it.

A merchant can have a higher percentage than 100% on reversals if they reverse more sales in one day (from the past) than they have new sales generated. The two aren't necessarily related.

okay, I will send you the ticket# Brian, but honestly I don't care about the $6. I just don't want this to happen again in the future with larger amounts. Can you please explain the purpose of allowing an individual transaction to be voided multiple times?

There would be no purpose in that - it would be a bug that we would want to fix. I'm not sure of the details yet since I haven't seen it.

Okay got a response from the merchant saying it was a system glitch where the same transaction posted 5 times on 5 different dates with the same transaction# . Brian emailed me the same. Can a moderator edit out the merchant's name in my first post since it wasn't there fault?

    BurgerBoy,

Not all situations or issues involve intentional crookedness or theivery, etc...

Sometimes, technical issues arise because we work in a tech world where computers and servers don't always behave the way we want them too.

In this case the merchant didn't do anything wrong, there were multiple transactions tracked for the same sale, and the duplicates were voided as they should be.
    Thanks,

I think most people learn this lesson eventually:

Don't make any judgements (or posts) until you have ALL the facts..

I think there is a glitch at SAS. We had to reverse a couple of sales in past (but only once) that were obvious duplicates (same invoice/transaction # coming in minutes apart). Though the effected affiliate realizes what happened, SAS still shows it as a reversal and thus other affiliates then see a high reversal rate.
