    I'm really upset.
Spent weeks reading and researching to build a site with lots of content. Then I put in affiliate links (a habit now)

Then I submitted that site to directories and was rejected by all of them.

Does anyone know of any directories that accept affiliates.

JoeAnt accepts affiliate sites (for a fee).

You might have some luck with Skaffe too, it's quite new and derived from the old Go Guides site.

I think that affiliate links don't work so well on content sites to be honest, maybe tone them down or remove them altogether, and put links in to pure affiliate sites from the content sites for the PR boost that way.

As long as it's unique, quality content and not too clattered with affiliate links it should be possible to get into directories. Which directories have you tried? Check out ISEDB to find more directories.

If you can't get your site into a directory build another site that you can get into a directory to use as a feeder. Then link to your money site from this feeder site. It's not optimal but it's better than nothing. I get very little traffic directly fron directories. The main purpose of a directory listing is to call attention to your site for the spiders.

If you're really into a specific topic, say Pets, you could build your own directory site that links to pet sites on the web. You can then use this to sneak in links to your own sites.

You might want to submit your content sites to the directories BEFORE you add any affiliate links.

I can understand why directories tend to avoid affiliate sites, but sometimes they really go overboard and excludes sites that provide real value.

MrSpeed is dead right.. the way to use directories is to give 'em what they want. Create a good looking, useful site on something you're fairly knowledgeable about and it should be fairly easy to get listed.

Most sites with a listing in the ODP eventually end up with a PageRank of 5 or so.. and you can use that PageRank to link to your sales sites to give 'em a boost.

The other way to get into JoeAnt is to become an editor, that is how I got a listing.

Thanks for the tip Dynamoo, I just gave Skaffe a go...
