What is the point of setting a daily budget at AdWords if they don't stick to it?

They went over my budget amount that past 3 days!

Has anyone else had this happen?

Happened to me before, they won't charge you for the extra clciks so don't worry.

It's actually based on a monthly budget.

    From Google Adwords:
"We may charge you more or less than your daily budget in a day, but we will never charge you more than your monthly budget (daily budget x days in the month) for any given month."

I thought the rules indicate that they guarantee your budget over a 30 day average since some traffic days are higher and some are lower. But I could be wrong... anyone have the official word on that?

Yeah, I've seen them automatically refund when they go over the daily budget. I'm not sure that they refund the entire overage, but it was a pleasant surprise to me.

As long as the campaign has a positive ROI, you shouldn't really care how much they send you. I always set my daily budget well over the minimum they recommend. No sense limiting my success.

I am using them to get traffic to a new site until the search engines pick it up.

There is no way in heck I would set it at their recommended daily budget. It is $300.00! *LOL*

I am going to give it a few more days and see if the over budget trend continues and if it does I guess I will just cancel the campaign when my bill reaches the limit I am willing to spend for the month.

If their recommended daily budget is $300 per day, you might be targeting too general of keywords. That affects your CTR as well. The more targeted you can make things, the better you'll do with AdWords.

I have two 'general' words in my list. The rest are specific items/categories of items.

Gonna play with is some more.

I think they refund if it's something like 20% over your daily budget.

you might want to fine tune that ad and keyword selection.. $300 a day sounds like it's a very broad term.
