    GoDaddy Redemption Period?
I thought the redemption period for GoDaddy was 30 days + 5 days to delete it from the registry. How long is it really? I'm looking at two domains that have expired, one just recently and the other 50 days ago. The latter should be available, but GoDaddy still says that it can only be backordered... How long do you have to wait, really?

Once a domain expires it can be renewed up to 45 days after expiration date.

There is then a 30 day RGP (Redemption Grace Period). Whois info is deleted and the domain will remain inactive. Domain can still be renewed but typically at an extra cost.

Deletion Period - The domain will be deleted from the registry in five days.

NOTE: If a domain is REGISTERED at GoDaddy or any of it's / WWD resellers, GoDaddy will change the expiration date by one year and put it up for auction. If no one bites on the domain at auction - then they will let it delete.

Their backorder service allows you the right to bid on the domain at their auction - if no one else bids, THEN you win the backorder.

    Pretty sneaky, eh?
