    Hey:
I just found this website who is using the slogan for my dating site: std-singles.com. My slogan is "Don't let std's ruin your love life" and he is using "Don't let stds control your love life". He is also copying content from my main page-word by word in some sentences. I email them and they just dont care... Any advice?

    contact the hosting company...

you can find who it is my using "whois" at any domain name registar... drill down till you find the owners of the hosting company...

inform them of the content thief ask them to shut down the site...

you may need to follow these theves for a while..(they will just move)

till they get the message .. and steal form someone else....

you can also threaten to take legal action... but this will cost 1000's...

you have to decide how much your orignal content is worth...

I for one will go after theives of my content because of princple.... cost is secondary...

(no I am not an attorney.. but i have a good one on retainer, just part of the cost of doing business)

    Joe

And, that's the bottom line because it's my2cents!

That you can't doing nothing about. No infringement there.

"He is also copying content from my main page-word by word in some sentences."
    That you possibly can.

Sorry: Welcome to the new wild wild west.
Your job is to have a better web site than them.

    Wins what?

I don't like that kind of money because I don't like to have to buy my way out.

Piracy is rampant. I just gave up chasing these copycat clowns unless they appear high in search engines. It is impossible to catch all of them.

Hardly true. There is no new Wild West. It may different technologies but existing laws still apply and new laws are being written to address the changing times.

Marifer, You still have rights to your work and should insist on them. Ignore those who say otherwise.

While true for some parts of the business--and yes it IS the Wild West for those parts--it is not true for copyright infringement.

Copyright infringement is fairly well defined and, unlike "guidelines" for SEs, copyright infringement has the force of LAW against it.

So, I'll ditto NorthernStudio's comment "Marifer, You still have rights to your work and should insist on them. Ignore those who say otherwise" (even though I disagree with the broad-brush comments about there being NO wild west here).

The Internet is still very wild but in the case of copyright infringement the Sherriff is in town in the form of the DMCA and other laws.

If you need it, Googles DMCA page

    http://www.google.com/dmca.html

If their copyright material is on google, let google chase them, so long as you are in the right it won't cost you a penny.

Point out this page to the copiers and tell them you will report them should be enough for them to take any copied material down, shows you mean business.

    I agree with TrustNo1.

If you haven't registered "Don't let std's ruin your love life" as a trademark, anyone can use it. However, copying your pages is copyright infringement.

I used to have "The best darned web site." Then someone came along and used part of it, they said: "The greatest darned web site."

    Just not fair !

Sorry to ad this, but on this page: http://www.3leggedtoad.com/about.html your link to the singles site has a problem (htpp://www.std-singles.com/) As you can see.

    Fred

PS: std-singles looks like a well designed site, nice job.

A Google search shows there are a few sites using your "Don't Let STDs Ruin Your Love Life" while there are currently 1880 results for the phrase "Don't let std's control your love life."

Not that you won't be successful in proving copyright infringement of your content, but proving it for your headline slogan would be tougher.
