    Microsites Scam?
I was speaking to a new affiliate this morning. Very nice man, very new to affiliate marketing. He had a question about microsites and I thought the best place to get answers was here. So here's his story:

He was approached by a salesperson from a company out of Phoenix. The offer is an initial investment of say $25K. This company is offering to sell blocks of microsites (min. 50). Have a staff that updates and writes articles and maintains the site. The sites also are dynamic, articles change frequently, ads are Google adsense, Amazon, and social marketing venues.
Theory is that they will pay on PPC and other income streams on site, then you get paid directly. Essentially they set up ad site and you get paid off advertising.
Guarantee in writing..if you don't recoup initial investment in 1 year, making money in 90 days, then initial investment is given back to you.
Hosting fees are $3 per site per month. After 12 months, these fees go to $20 per month per site.
Business model makes sense, but is it a scam?
Has anyone ever heard of this kind of idea before or heard of this company.
Driving traffic, they focus on low traffic keywords to get high response on those words.
It sounds too good to be true....

That's what I thought too, but wanted the experts here at ABW to chime in as well.

They are guaranteeing 100% annual returns?

Maybe they should call Bernie Madoff.

isn't and die to find out there is.

Maybe they already work for him and he's running things from jail - just where he belongs.

If they can guarantee you will make money this way, why don't they just keep the sites for themselves and retain 100% of the profits?

3 x 50 (the min you said he would have to get) = $150 in just hosting costs, he can get a server of his own for that cost. They are going to do all the work and he gets all the money? Nope, something definitely wrong there. Just do the math. He spends and spends and I can already here the excuses.... then the hosting goes up to $20 a month PER SITE and bam that is a whole lotta cash.

Now... do you get paid if you recruit other people into this enterprise?

I guess they have a website. Do a WHOIS on it. If it's a private registration, the run away. If it's a recent registration, then run away. If the details are public, then Google the registrant's information.. that is often quite revealing.
