    Domain acquisition email scam
Over the weekend I got a couple of emails offering to pay "65% of the appraised value" on my domain XXXX. In the email it had links to three places they "accepted" 1) sedo.com, 2) pozde .com and 3) accuratedomains.com. After first reading it I thought WTF 65%? These are some seriously good domains ... I should at least get 80% even on a fire sale so I closed the email.

This morning I see it's a scam to buy an appraisal through Pozde.com.

I, too, have gotten a bunch of those same emails over the coupel of weeks. This type of (need appraisal) scam seems to cycle or recycle every so often. I've just marked them as spam and moved on.

I am, however, about ready to "clean house" and put some reasonable domains up for sale. However, the buyer will need to do his or her own appraisal of values.

The pozde.com scam is a continuation of the pedma.com scam (lots of info there). Looks like it is run by some guy in Canada.

They offered me 85% for an AB*.COM name. It's a fairly smart scam in that it lists three or four legitimate appraisers plus the bogus one, which is cheaper. So it works on the principle that many people will go for the cheapest one.. and then they've got your money..

..not *that* smart though, faking your WHOIS details does NOT stop people with the right tools from finding out who registered it!

Funny, I got an email from a prince of Nigeria.
Apparently he needs some money for a couple of weeks and then he PROMISES to pay me back.
BTW, I love the domain name, LOXLY.
