Can I Talk About Coffee? Blessing or Burden?
Have been enjoying my Gevalia coffee maker that I got about a year ago - again.

I ran out of their premium coffees for a while, but received my order of Antico Cafe Greco (sp) yesterday and drank two pots over the evening, trying to build the new GREEN section for my site.

Blessing: Was great! Couldn't STOP drinking it.

Burden: Strong stuff. Still haven't had a wink of sleep since.

    YIKES!

WHAT'S YOUR BRAND and method of cooking up the fine brew?

I know there's a coffee drinker or two here.

    Probably aren't loaded around here.

Kona coffee is something I haven't tried, but heard of, but will

Gevalia sold me the machine on the cheap, but get paid with the coffee products.

    A little high priced.

would love to try the various premium beans, but found that the 8 o'clock Columbian (BJ's, largest package, $4.35 per pound) works just fine for us.

But our grinder sounds like an air raid siren so we just grind it on weekends -- not too early in the morning, either.

I dropped Coffee for a year two years ago but went back - now it's any and everything at Starbucks - mostly Gold Coast home ground. But, as of late been getting lazy and going with the VIA Columbian ... it's pretty good actually. (BTW we have five different machines to make coffee, yet we are doing instant ... what a kick in the head no?).

As for the smilies, yeah we got a slew of them - more than you can shake a stick at. click advanced and then click the more link on the right. Funny I never saw any smilies at PUD's F'ed Co. All I actually remember were the fights with Jason Wolfe LOL.

Just a strongly brewed pot of plain old grocery store Maxwell House. Not Folgers. Maxwell House. Darker and stronger the better -- with just a touch of creamer to smooth off the edges.

Gary, I think you will end our friendship after this but here goes -- when I do drink coffee, I put one inch (yes, one inch) of Wal-mart coffee in a cup, add 2 TBSP of sugar, and fill the rest of the cup with milk.

Gee, that kind of sounds wimpy, doesn't it?

I am an Arco coffee fan - gourmet quality coffee for under $6 a pound.

I drink too much of it! So I started drinking peppermint herbal tea after my second cup of coffee in the morning.

I like Community Coffee (regular) that I buy online (through my own aff link, of course) and brew it one cup at a time in Black and Decker Cup-at-a-Time coffee makers. I have one at our Baltimore home and one at our beach home. I can live with plain ol' Folgers or Maxwell House, but prefer Community Coffee from Louisiana.

My kind of guy. We drink a lot of Community Decaf with Chicory. The Chicory gives it a caffeine flavor. The 50% caffeine "Lite" is good but hard to find in the store. Nothing but black! Just got an Air Pot today to keep it hot all morning long.

    Cool
4:30 in the morning and still working on my site.

    Should have ordered some Decaf.

Or turned the coffee into a fine Irish mix! Too late (or early) to start now.

    Chicory?

Is that good coffee or tree bark?

Honestly, I thought it was tree bark.

Might ought to Google it and not show my diminished knowledge publicly.

    Back to Caffeine.

I DO like some of the new Folgers blends.

They have a Brazilian Blend that is really good.

Glad you ask since I was wondering too.
Root chicory (Cichorium intybus var. sativum) has been in cultivation in Europe as a coffee substitute for a long time. The roots are baked, ground, and used as a coffee substitute and additive, especially in the Mediterranean region (where the plant is native), although its use as a coffee additive is also very popular in India, parts of Southeast Asia and the American South, particularly in New Orleans.

Actually, I don't really care for tea either. The peppermint, unsweetened, is more like slightly flavored water after I reuse the one bag on the 3rd cup of tea.

So I am sparing my body of the caffeine and sugar and taking in some water. It's a health thing.

I used to do the all night affiliate marketing thing, but now must limit my caffein intake in the afternoon/evenings so I can get to bed in time to rise with my one year old each day.
