I just came across a website that clames it provides instant dmoz listings at £149.00.

    http://www.beyonder.co.uk/store.htm

Sounds scammy, at first it looked like a regular paid inclusion site untill suddenly I see this buy now link next to the dmoz logo

I wonder if maybe they're an editor on dmoz?

If you can solve your problem, then what is the need of worrying?

    I seriously think it's a scam!

A quick check of DMOZ for "dmoz paid inclusion" yields no results http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/searc...paid+inclusion

And DMOZ's About DMOZ page says nothing about being able to buy a listing.

    Interesting.

No, you can't pay for inclusion. You could pay for *submission* though, but no site is guaranteed a listing.

Well, it's either editor abuse or fraud.

Am I missing something, or did they take the part about DMOZ down?

Looks like somebody keeps a close eye on their referrer logs. Anyway, this is what it claimed:

quote:
Open Directory Project. Provides primary and secondary listings across the board. Google uses for its own Directory

Instantly increase your Google page ranking. £149.00

I guess that must be the "guest" hanging about in the forum.
