I know everybody here is smart enough not to open it. Something like that virus a few months ago that filled everyones email up, don't know if it's that bad yet.

Trust, looks like it could get that bad.

Got 380, more than half marked "returned, failure notice, etc."

I guess lots of you are getting whatever it is I've supposedly been sending out.

Did we all "opt-in" for this too?

Yeah, getting hammered here too. Trying to filter as much as possible.

One difference between this one and the other one a few months ago is that the file size this time is roughly 33k, while the earlier ones were upwards of 200k. That one completely saturated my email accounts.

The worst thing about this virus is that my email virus scan didn't even detect a virus, the virus was in a zip file.

I was out of town on a slower connection and was literally getting 1000 of them a day. It took hours.

I've been getting them for a few hours, but they are really beginning to pour in now. Gonna overflow my mailbox while I sleep.

Here is the weird thing about this virus. I had it sent to me to check out and my virus scanner did not catch it. It infected my computer but only sent out emails to people through my Yahoo email and my merchant email accounts(both web based). It did not send out any emails via my corporate outlook account at work(as far as I can tell)

Sorry if you received any emails from me!!!

I just came here to post the same thing. I'm getting slammed. I think I'll just not open my email for a few days to see if it lets up any. Or there'll be about 4000 of 'em when I do~!

They seem to be going after domains, and just spamming by random username. If I were to turn off the catch-all's I would nab most of the offending stuff.

They must be getting tons of bounces, really sucks for Internet bandwidth - F*c*ers !

We're getting a mix of random emails to people like bill@ jim@ jimmy@ james@ ray@ sandra@ plus ones targetted to actual email addies.

It comes as a ZIP file which is a neat trick for getting through firewalls.

Oh goody. I just got 5 of those emails, and it looks like either a merchant or someone from Linkshare must have been hit, because I got one sent to my email addy I use only for linkshare. The others were for bob, jane, etc.

Luckily my isp filtered out the worm.

Time to do some filtering I suppose.

I disabled all the catchall forwards on 16 hosted sites for clients. Damn spammers trying to take down SCO unix on Feb. 1st sent 4635 messages to those POP3 accounts in the last 24 hrs. Took 2 hours to clean out the e-mails and trash bin.

Can you tell me how to disable the catchall forwarders? Is it in the mail menu somewhere?

So far nothing yet which is surprizing because I got pounded by the last one

I just visited Road Runner and supposedly they have things under control. I'll have to wait and see how that goes. Have any Road Runner users gotten it yet in the Email?

Road Runner also has a link to a cleaning utility at Computer Associates. I'm no computer wiz, so maybe one of the guru's here can see if it's what is needed in case any members get infected. The link is http://www3.ca.com/solutions/collate...7081&CID=54593 for the cleaning Utility tool.
