    Detailed Product Feeds Valuable?
I'm one of the founders of stylous.com, a visual shopping aggregator for women's accessories. We weren't happy with the quality or depth of the information provided by the CJ and linkshare feeds for the sites we have agreements with (zappos, endless, nordstrom, macys, amazon ...). As a result, we created a crawler to get detailed information including product colors, image urls ... etc.

Is detailed product data that is pulled from the actual site page that users visit valuable to other affiliates? Is there any interest in buying a feed?

Yes, there definitely would be some value if you could deliver "more or better" data, with the merchants' permission. The key would probably be in integrating the data with working affiliate links for the products.

And of course, it depends on the price.

FYI: I don't see anything that suggests either "more" or "better" from your beta site.

FYI 2: To be useful, any aggregator should reach beyond LS and CJ. I am one of many affiliates who refuses to work with LS at all.

The only enhancement over the CJ feeds currently visible is our color filter. We're working on normalizing colors (no weird colors like savanna sunset) and brands (dr. martens and dr marten's would be unified).

We are also working on detecting duplicate products across retailers (for price / availability comparison). In the future, we are planning on tagging products with more detailed information (strappy, shiny ... etc).

We also plan on crawling sites that don't necessarily have affiliate programs. (Louis Vitton for instance). The thought is that a more complete line of products will bring people in that wouldn't have otherwise come to the site. Some percentage of them will buy items from retailers that do have affiliate programs.

The links are somewhat of an issue. CJ allows you to send users to arbitrary urls on the retailer sites through a CJ redirect url. LinkShare doesn't have this feature so we have to work around it by making sure the user is still cookied properly through other means.

Is there any other data that you think would be valuable (real time sale alerts .... etc)? What sort of additional data would improve your campaigns?
