from the info I got (reliable source) will happen till the end of this month.

I guess first we'll see the switch and then an announcement.

Did any of you spend time to work on INK listings?

That info you got has been posted in just about every forum for months, in this forum a few times The head of Yahoo said the switch will happen in March.

    Yeah, BUT ...

What is Yahoo going to do with AltaVista ?

I'm hopefull that AV will be in the mix as well as Inktomi .

Who knows what they are going to do with it.

The most important thing was to simply buy it, then they wouldn't have to worry about anybody else doing anything with it.

When you have five active or potential competitors, and manage to buy three of them, you often wind up being bigger and badder than the remaining two.

Bigger and badder might describe the headache Yahoo may have trying to mix diverse technologies and cultures into a homogenous product. This may call for a double dose of Alka Seltzer and a few Rolaids.

Don't forget Alltheweb is in the mix too.

Trouble is that both AltaVista and Alltheweb have unique features so they're very different underneath. However, I can see that eventually they'll all be running off the same back end.
