bing.com wants to be the new Google killer
They're baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack... bing.com is Microsoft's latest attempt to break into search, due to launch Monday. It tries to be different from Google rather than just trying to beat them. Will it work? Hmmmm.

They seem to be trying to tie different verticals of search tools (price comparison search, health search, travel search, restaurant finder, cash back(?) shopping) into one "decision" engine.

Will be interesting to see if they can deliver.

The overall problem for Microsoft, however, is branding. First it was MSN, then Live, then Windows Live, now for search bing. It's like, "come on, make up your mind, already."

    That was clever!

    AND Funny!

I really wish that someone, anyone, would come up with something else that gives me the MILLIONS of hits that Google throws my way!

I'll watch with little fanfair, and not be amazed when no-one mentions it in the future.

    BUT!!

If it takes off, I'll be a happier man for it, and jump all over it!

I've been binging today and it's better than I had thought. Not sure they'll challenge Google with it but I could see them gaining some points.

Not having that issue, Davidh, but I did notice Google Analytics is not picking up referrer keywords for Bing. Anyone else?

And if so, wonder if that's intentional on Microsofts part....

I think Bing will give a good competetion to google. But one thing is there the way of presenting searches so many good options better than google...

I've been getting a good amount of traffic from Bing, so I'm happy about that. Of course they're not Google, but competition is always good.

In the first two days of the month....
    13,342 hits from google search
    162 from Bing...

    Far less than I was getting from MSN ( Live & search.msn ) ....

I've been searching around bing and have come to the conclusion that they hate me ....

I don't see them catching up with google in my world very soon.

Don't let the new-found Bing traffic fool you. I was happy at first, but then I realized my MSN and Live traffic vanished and were replaced by Bing. It's the exact same number of visitors, so this leads me to believe it's nothing new, just a different name.

For the first 3 days of June, my AdCenter traffic is quadruple what it was for the first 3 days of May. Probably can be attributed to the big press releases this week and everyone wanting to try it out to see what's new and different, but hopefully the positive trend continues even after the initial "new-ness" dies off.

I couldn't agree more, this is the best news I have herd for a long time. On top of that I'm also seeing great seo results from them, about time Google get's something to rattle it's complete market domination.

We are seeing some decent traffic from bing, more than from live.com or msn in the past.

I just checked one of my main sites and am seeing the same thing. But I still don't have good feelings about any search product from M$. For all their resources they just can't seem to get it "right" enough to grab market share from the Big G.

That is the competitor of Google. But it can't be possible to compete the Google. Its plays the big role in internet market.

Thanx for this! You got me interested in more comparisons and found this blind search test where you type in your term and get unbranded results for Google, Yahoo & Bing. You probably can figure out which is which, but it's a great side by side tool.
