Simple form for collecting email addresses?
I知 looking for a simple little script/form thingie that will let me collect the email addresses of people who visit my site and want me to contact them with news about my services.

At this point I don稚 want to sign up with an email service like AWeber or Constant Contact and have to pay a monthly fee; I知 just looking to collect email addresses through an easy-to-use form so that I can manually email people later.

Does anyone have a good tool to recommend?

    Thanks!

How technical do you want to get? You can receive emails from the site, write to a file or a database...lots of options. Search email scripts and you'll find several options-to files to db etc. I hope this helps, good luck.

    Two options I'd suggest

    1. Search for formmail.cgi. Very popular and very easy

    2. Use mailchimp for your mailing list (like icontact, etc). I've been using mailchimp for a couple of months now and not paid a dime. It is free as long as your list is small and you don't send out alot of newsletters.

Thanks for the tip. I've been thinking of a use for CGI but I wasn't sure where to start. I'll look this up. Thanks for the tip.
Is there any special hosting requirement?

I think just about any linux host will support it.

Also - since it is so popular it gets hunted down and attacked a lot. When you download it I'd rename it and use it as something else. I usually change it to formmale.cgi

Thanks a lot! I had no idea that Mail Chimp was free with low usage levels...I'll definitely check it out!
