I just renewed my domain at the end of January. As of yesterday morning it was gone. After numerous inquiries, I got this response:

Your domain is in the process of propagration i.e resolution of domain name into IP address by name servers of Ipowerweb. so You'll have to wait for 24 to 72 hours for resolving your issue. Thank you for your patience in advance.

    Is this typical?

Did you change webhosts? If not, then it's definitely not normal.

Did you pay *before* it expired?

I did not change webhosts and I did pay before expiration (and recieved confirmation).

This really stinks and could cost me a bunch!

    Pretty expensive web hosting!

No, that's not normal. Renewing a domain name would not require a change to be made to name servers. When you renewed it, did thet accidentally change something else?

It sounds like your web host may have moved your site to a different server....has your IP address changed?

    You diffinetly have a problem...

propagation should only take a few days....

I would immediatly contcat the hosting company and the registar... and get to the bottom of the problem...

also do a whois search... this will tell you if any funny business is going on...

it will list the owner of the domain and sever it is pointing to...

these kinds of problem happen all the time with second tier companies.. (resellars of resellers)

    Definitely not normal.

It's not the domain in your profile is it? That one looks fine, but doesn't renew until May.

Ipowerweb appear to be talking out of their arse.

Get help from someone who has a technical understanding of DNS.

Domain is working again as of this morning, thankfully. I was really on their case and I got the name of their Quality Assurance Supervisor and let them know he was contacted - this may have helped speed up things a bit. This was really a bad deal since I lost a hundred or so dollars but could have resulted in even bigger losses if it caused me to drop out of google. Frankly, I don't understand much about DNS. IPowerWeb has been great in the past until now.
