June 12th, 2009, 09:22 AM #1Trying to recruit affiliates
I am working on building a plan to recruit affiliates once we launch our program (probably July). Besides being active an ABW and using SAS promotion options, what else it there available? What has worked for you? What hasn't worked?

goes back to recruiting from how has your traffic sources. Such as the top ranked sites in google that have natural rankings or bid on your phrases. Thats where the real estate is online.

Talk to your SEO and PPC people, get lists of terms that are converting.
Do search in Google to find all organically ranked and PPC bidding sites then determine which are affiliates.
Using SEO Toolbar will help recognize affiliates from PPC bidders.
Create short focused recruiting template then customize them before sending. Put together a follow-up list and do not send another email for two weeks. Customize the subject line and first paragraph including the affiliates fist name and site URL. Tell them where your site would best fit and include the URL. Make sure you have a sign-up link.
Add all of your competitors to Google Alerts and watch for sites sending them traffic.
Talk to your network about help with recruiting.
It generally takes many attempts to get webmasters to respond generally 90 days. It can take a year to get a super affiliate to accept your program.
Make sure your program is competitive by doing an analysis in all the top networks. Then you need either a better payout/terms or a lower price point or a better consumer value.

Do certain networks, like SAS or GAN, have recruiting tools/resources to help?

What about software that helps find potential sites? I have heard of Link Capture, which seems to be recommended.
